Fayne's POV
“The Luna told me to take you to the library. There's no problem with that, but since you're not a werewolf, it can be hard for you to keep your bearing there.”
“Can you tell me what your name is?” I asked her.
“Oh, it's Melissa.” she responded.
I nodded. “Then let's go, Melissa. And, you can call me Fayne.”
“I know, the Luna told me.”
“I see.” I responded.
“Come with me,” she said.
I followed Melissa to the library where several maids passed by. I guess they were in the lowest of the hierarchy but somehow they were still higher than me. After all, they were werewolves.
“Come on in,” Melissa ushered me and I looked around at the multiple scripts on the shelves in the library and sighed.
“I'll be right by the door in case you need me.”
I turned to her. “No, please go and tend to the Luna. I think she needs you more right now.”
“You're in danger more, I'd like to guard you. You don't know how dangerous werewolves can be. You're just a human.”
“I know I'll be fine.” I said and Melissa scoffed.
“I'll be outside, spend as much time as you can solving my Luna's problem.” Melissa said and walked out the door leaving me alone.
I picked the ladder and searched through the shelf and picked out a book about werewolves. I sat down at a table and started to read through the book. It made me understand about werewolf instincts and all of their supernatural gifts. I felt a bit jealous that I wasn't a werewolf naturally. I loved especially the hearing abilities. They were pretty nice.
I thought about Emily and hoped that I would bDe able to help her. But for obvious reasons, I couldn't. The power dynamic was just too big. So I read more books until I understood a method for Emily to gain back her wolf. I put the books back and walked out the door.
Melissa turned to me, “You're done already?”
“Yes, I have some ideas. Please lead me to the Luna's room.”
“Okay.”
***
“Did you find out something?” Emily asked, her eyes widened with curiosity. Her eyes were beautiful and it made me want to caress them but I couldn't because it was like reaching for the stars.
I shook my head at the thought. In Emily's eyes, I was probably some docile guy who was inexperienced in certain things. If only she knew how I felt for her. But even if I had some feelings in my heart towards her, it would be unfair to her for me to act towards it so I cleared my throat.
“I have a solution for you, Emily.”
She gasped, “Did you find out how to make me a werewolf again?”
“It’s a gradual process but I think it will help.”
Emily ran her fingers through her hair without even trying to be cute, but in my eyes, she was. Everything she did was beautiful.
“Tell me more about it.”
“A run.”
“A run?” She said with raised eyebrows.
“Yes,” I answered her.
We went outside and Emily looked around. I gently stood behind her and placed a hand on her right shoulder.
“Hold in your breath and run with everything you've got. Maybe you'll feel something.”
Emily nodded, she held in a deep breath and paced forward, her dress dancing around her as she moved.
She kept running forward until I saw her stop and crouch down while breathing heavily.
My heart ached. I rushed towards her and leaned forward.
“Are you okay?” I gave her my hand to hold and she held it while simultaneously getting back up.
I wanted to hold her in my arms but I realised that it was better not to. I didn't have the right.
“What is going on?” I asked as Emily started coughing.
“Well… I felt something in my chest, it felt like my wolf.”
A small smile crossed my face but it was was less than enough.
“Congratulations, Emily. But you need to take control of your wolf quickly.”
If she didn't, she could be taken advantage of my her husband, Jacob sadly. And I didn't want that to happen. I clenched my fists but I realized that I was useless and that if anything was to really happen, I would be unable to do anything for her.
If only she knew how willing I was but my strength was weak.
“What other ideas have you come up with?”
“It might seem a little cruel.”
I brought Emily to a waterfall and she looked at me with a complicated look on her face.
“Excuse me? What are you trying to do, Fayne.”
“Well, it's not that bad.”
She glared at me.
“Well, this,” I gestured to the waterfall, “Is meant to trigger your survival instincts.”
Emily sighed, turning away from me.
“You don't have to do it if you don't want to.” I said and she giggled slightly.
I turned to her and she said, “I'll do it. I don't have much time.”
I nodded, “I'll go get you in the water in case something happens.”
“I look forward to it…” Emily jumped off and into the water causing my heart to skip a beat. Was she going to be safe in there?
My breath hitched in my throat and I had to remind myself.
“She's a literal werewolf, she's going to survive it. She's far stronger than me.”
After a few moments and she didn't resurface, I jumped into the water without warning and saw her sinking into the water. I held my breath and grabbed her by the waist and lifted her until we were both ashore.
While breathing heavily, I asked, “Are you okay? Why didn't you come ashore.”
My heart was literally pounding and I felt scared as though Emily was going to be snatched away from me.
“My wolf… something happened to her.”
“What?” I asked, my breath heavy.
Emily's POV Fayne looked at me, his gaze heavy. He just wouldn't understand. When I was in the water, I saw a flash of my wolf. I didn't know whether it was a vision or an imagination but it was definitely a message. I saw my wolf drowning. She was trying to tell me something but my senses seemed so short from it that I could barely understand it.“I’m sorry Fayne but I need to meditate.”I sat at the edge of the water and closed my eyes about to meditate but Fayne sighed. “No, your dress is wet. You're going to catch a cold if you stay in this for long.”“Well, you're right.” I responded. “But I feel that I might lose the moment to catch up with my wolf.”“No you won't.” Fayne was about to place a hand on his shoulder but then he pulled away.“The easier you are on yourself the more meditative state you'll be in, thus making it easier to connect with your wolf. Isn't it?”Although I didn't want to do what Fayne was suggesting, I felt it wasn't a bad idea. I was always indulging to a
Emily's POV I turned to Fayne and his lips parted. I looked further ahead and sighed, feeling my ability to smell come back to life. Suddenly, I was surrounded by floral scent which filled my senses.“Guess the drink you gave me worked, Fayne. My sense of smell is back.”“It is?” Fayne smiled at me and I nodded.“I would like to try and run in my wolf form.” I said.Fayne's eyes widened. “Alright.”He turned around, hiding his gaze from my body. I removed my outer robe and shifted into my wolf, tearing my inner robes into shreds. My wolf felt completely free and I ran into the woods, feeling the air soak me in completely. For the first time, I felt completely covered in my essence. I was finally in touch with my inner self.As my paws danced against the softness of the ground, I felt completely grounded and rooted.“Where have you been all this while?” I asked my wolf.“Although I was unconscious, I was always with you. Sorry I didn't connect with you sooner.”I sobbed internally whi
Emily's POV “Jacob, you're here. Have a seat.” I gestured towards a seat at the table.“Thank you,” He sat down on a chair at a table and I sat down with him as well.“What is going on?” I asked him.“I just wanted to talk to you.” He said.“Oh I see,” I responded. “About what?”I was fighting everything in me not to snap at him. I reminded myself that in order for me to get what I wanted, I needed to be strong but mostly calm and composed.“Well, I'm going to a trip to a Redstone pack for personal reasons. Would you like to come with me?”I thought about it. It could be a plan to get me to eat and drink in another location so he can poison me and blame it on others.“Actually, I want to explore this place a bit more so I'm not going.”“Are you sure?” He asked me.“Yeah,” I answered. “By the way, what are you going to do in Redstone pack?”“Well, just to build some connections that's all.”I hesitated. It sounded like a good thing to go to Redstone and make some connections but righ
Emily's POV “What would you like to eat?”“Give me something light.” I said.“Okay. Maybe something like pudding and salad?”I thought about it for a moment.“I'll just have a sandwich and a drink.”Fayne nodded, “Okay.”Then he walked down the hallway. I entered my room and sighed, waiting for Fayne to come back. When he arrived, I stared at him.“Thank you for the sandwich.”I took a bite from the sandwich and placed it back onto the plate.“By the way, are you doing okay, Fayne? You've been working for me for so long and…”I trailed off.“Anyways, you can go. I'll talk to you tomorrow.”“Yes, Emily.”Fayne picked up the tray and walked away then closed the door to my room. I sighed when he was gone. Then I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.*** The next dayI woke up to the lights from the window creeping into the bedroom. I sighed and yawned, gently stretching. When I was done, I ran my fingers through my hair and smiled.“What a good day.”Then I remembered that I had to g
Emily's POV “That's nice of you, Esther. I wonder if the Alpha is going to give you a rank because of how you treated him.”“I don't need a rank. I'm fine just the way that I am and besides I'm a nurse, I do well for myself.”“Hmm, are you sure?” I asked her and she nodded.“Of course, the Alpha has always been very generous and respectful of all. Anyway, I got to go now.”As Esther turned away, my breath hitched in my throat.I wanted to grab her and tell but instead I watched her leave. Then I went back into Jacob's office and looked through all the books and articles. I ended up spending the entire day there. The next day, i was in my room meditating. When I was done, all of my wolf's senses were restored to me which made me feel happy. All I had to do now was go into the woods and strengthen my instincts for hunting.I heard a knock on my door which made me happy. I opened the door and was very elated to see Melissa. She had her hair in a bun. Usually she would let her hair down.
Emily's POV Melissa opened the door and walked out. Behind the door I heard the two of them have an exchange of conversation.“Fayne, it's you.”“That's right.”“You're here to have a chat with the Luna?”“You bet I am.” She responded. “Anyway, I'm off.”“Have a good one.”Then I heard a knock on the door.“Luna, it's me Fayne. Am I allowed to come in?”“Yeah, sure.” I responded. The door opened and I looked at Fayne.“We shouldn't even be talking in my room but Jacob isn't here so...”“Would you like for us to go somewhere more convenient?” He asked me and I shrugged.“Just take a seat.”Fayne nodded.I sat down on a chair and he did the same.“So why are you here?”“I…” his hair danced all over his face then he cleared his throat and tucked a strand of hair behind his ear.“Will you go to crystal pack with Matteo?” He asked me.“Yeah,” I responded. “I mean Jacob isn't here, but the beta is. He'll take care of things while I'm gone.”“Right.” He held in a breath. Then he sighed. “On
Emily's POV The next day I woke up feeling anxious but I decided to calm myself by taking a cold bath. I put on my red dress and did my hair. Then I applied makeup and sighed. When I was done with my internal monologue, I grabbed a bag and filled it up with all the things that I would need. Food. Water and some snacks. When I walked down the hallway, I saw the Beta coming in my direction. It was too late to avoid him so I decided that I might as well meet him.“Luna,” he bowed his head towards me and I nodded.“You're Jacob's Beta.”“Yes, exactly. I haven't been introduced to you by the Alpha yet but he sure spoke to me about you.”“I see.” I cleared my throat.“There's a carriage outside the gate. Is there by any chance that you want to leave the pack?”“Yes.” I said boldly. “And I do not need your permission now, do I? I mean you didn't even greet me until now.”“I'm sorry about that Luna. But I don't think it is right for you to leave the pack especially when the Alpha is not arou
Emily's POV “It's nothing like that. It's just a simple gift to acknowledge our collaboration as allies.”I looked at Matteo.“Are you allowed to talk about that?”Matteo scoffed. “Oh the rider is one of my people, we can say whatever we want around him and nothing bad will happen haha,”“Please take back your gift, I don't want it.”“Well I'm not taking it back so you might as well keep it.”I sighed and placed it on the table.“What's the plan when we get to crystal pack? The deal is that we chase the rogues from the pack but just the two of us can't do that.” I said.“First of all, congratulations on getting back your wolf. Secondly, my people are on the way, they may just arrive a little later.”“I see.”When we arrived at Crystal pack, the Alpha and Luna came out holding each other's hands. The Luna looked at me with a wide smile on her face.“I knew you'd come back, Emily. It's so nice to see you.”“Thank you, Luna.” I responded with a kind smile.Matteo and the Alpha of Crysta
Emily's POV A smile crossed my cheek and I cleared my throat, “Thank you, ma'am.”“You're welcome, Luna.”My eyes widened, “Luna?”“Your wolf is a special one, isn't she? It's not that hard to decipher a wolf from a royal bloodline.”I smiled. “Although right now, I'm a Luna. I wish to become an Alpha someday.”“Won't be hard for you due to your bloodline. Where are you from?” she asked me.“You mean my pack?” I asked her. “Right.” She responded.“You'll know in due time.” I said with a smirk and she laughed out loud.“Fine. But wait a moment, I have something for you.”The woman walked into her house and came back with a blue sachet and handed it over to me.“What is that?” I asked her.“You don't have to know what it is honey, just put a bit in the food and water for 14 days and whoever that eats it will die within a month.”My eyes widened, “Really?”“Trust me honey,” she responded. My grip tightened on the sachet. I could use it on Jacob. Then all of a sudden, I sensed some men
Emily's POV “My name is Fayne.”“Wow, that sounds very gentlemanly.” Beth responded with a calm expression on her face.“And you, ma'am?” Fayne asked her.“It's Beth,” she chuckled slightly.“I made some rice and fish soup. Would you guys like to have breakfast?”“You didn't have to.” Beth smiled while walking over and serving herself.“I was hungry so I decided to make it.” I said while she smiled enthusiastically.I fixed Fayne a plate after Beth left the kitchen and he grabbed the plate from my hand and bowed his head slightly.“Thank you,”“You're welcome.”Fayne walked out of the kitchen and I sighed. I waited some moments in the kitchen before stepping out and watching Beth and Fayne eat together while chatting. For some reason, I felt as though our lives felt a bit normal. It was very calm and nourishing compared to the life that I had in front of me. And soon, Fayne was going to die and I would be all on my own. After eating breakfast, Beth made Fayne his morning medications
Emily's POV “Going somewhere?” She asked me.“As a matter of fact, yes. But I'll be back soon.”Beth looked at me from up to down. “Well, you can go but be careful, there might be some cruel werewolves lurking about.”“Don't worry about it, I'm pretty cruel myself.”I winked at Beth and went to the horse and carriage not far from the house and began to lead it into the woods. I found some carrots on the ground and I fed it to the horse as well as some water. When I was done, I walked where Viper had been killed and saw that his body was still there. I removed his body away from the tree and checked his pockets only to see a purse. I grabbed it and checked it only to see that it contained silver. I kept the purse in my dress pocket and found something I could dig the ground with. Then I buried Viper in a far away distance and headed back to Beth's hut. By now, it was dark and Beth was standing outside looking worried.“Finally, you came back.” She told me, looking nervous.“Of cours
Emily's POV I rushed out of the room and went to Beth.“Beth, help me. My friend passed out.”Beth gave me a look. “What? But he should be fine now if he wakes up.”“He did wake up and then he passed out while we were talking.”“Maybe he was just too sleepy and then he passed out.”“Please come check him out.”Beth sighed, “Okay.”Then she walked to the room Fayne was in with me rushing behind her. When she went to check him, her eyes widened and she seemed a little panicked.“Why? What's going on?” I asked her and she shook her head at me.Then she continued to check Fayne's body as well as his pulse. When she eventually untied his wound, she sighed as she turned to me.“He seemed to have been poisoned.”“Poisoned?”I thought of how Fayne was shot and then remembered how brutal Matteo was. If he intended to kill me then he wouldn't let my slave live either least he try to avenge me if something should happen to me.“Can you cure him?” I asked her.She sighed. “The poison seemed to h
Emily's POV I was about to leave when I heard him murmur, “Don't go, Emily. Don't leave me.”I looked at him painfully and smiled, “It's alright, Fayne. You'll be fine. You're a strong man.”Then I walked out of my room and flipped my hair back.Beth was outside, tapping her feet against the ground firmly.“I’m ready,” I told her.“Good.” She accessed me from head to toe and then shook her head.“No. Something's wrong.”“What's wrong?” I asked her.“Your outfit.” She responded.“Come on with me, I think I have something good to sneak you into. Although it might not be the best but it is something.”I entered the hut with her and she led me to her room. She opened the closet and handed me a dress that was green and soft looking.“Change into this and meet me outside,” she told me.I collected the cloth from her and changed into it and then looked at my reflection in the mirror. I looked like the way that I did when I was living with Fayne. So young and innocent. When I walked outside
Emily's POV “Emily…” he trailed off.I ignored him and led him into the the carriage and once he was seated, I looked at his hand. The blood had permeated through the fabric which I had used to tie his hand.“Fayne,” I whispered and then ripped apart another layer of my dress and tied his hand.“You do not have to do any of this.” He said.A sigh escaped through my lips. “Why are you so stubborn, Fayne?”I ignored him and turned around to leave when I suddenly felt his grip on my hand.“Fayne,” I said as I faced him.“Kiss me,” he said. “Kiss me before I die.”I stood there in confusion and shock. “Fayne, you don't mean that—”He grabbed me closer to him and before I knew it, I leaned forward out of instinct and our lips pressed onto each other. My eyes widened as I stared at Fayne whose eyes were filled with desire and many more emotions that I'd never noticed before.Fear and passion took over me all at once. Did Fayne like me?I pulled away from the kiss, stunned and filled with a
Emily's POV “I'll leave it then to you.”The warrior was about leaving when all of a sudden, Fayne leaned to the left and his leg hit a thistle on the ground causing a sound to be made. The warrior's ear tilted to the side and he looked towards where Fayne and I were hiding.Fayne looked at me with guilt evidently written on his face.“You stay here,” I said with a definite smile on my face. “I'll go face whatever needs to be faced.”Fayne shook his head no but I ignored him and walked out of our hiding place and looked between the carriage rider and the warrior. The carriage rider turned to the warrior and said, “Go, this is between me and the Luna Emily down. If she is to die, at least her honour must be preserved.”“Yes sir,” the warrior said and left me alone with the carriage rider.I looked at my nails and blew on it gently. “So you're not just a carriage rider, huh?”The carriage smirked at me. “My name is Viper, I am a trained assassin for master Matteo.”“I see. So he has yo
Emily's POV “So, let's go.”“Okay.” I responded to the Alpha of Crystal pack who led the way.Fayne looked at me and followed behind me slowly. We headed to the woods and Matteo sniffed the air.“Oh no, something's wrong.” He said.“What?” I raised a brow.“Before, I sensed some scent around here but now it's not the same. Do you think the rogues left?” Matteo looked to the Alpha of the crystal pack.“Well, I'm unsure what is going on but we'll find out won't we?”“There's land at the forefront, maybe if we go there we'll find some clue.” The Luna of Crystal pack said which led me to smile and nod.Internally, I was nervous. I hoped they did not catch Penelope, Adam and the others. If they did, I was unsure if I would be able to help them.Goosebumps covered my skin as we got to the land at the forefront, there was a running wolf that was spotted and his wolf felt very familiar to me.“There's one,” Matteo whispered. He then brought out his bow and arrow that he was keeping around hi
Emily's POV “But Alpha, what is your plan exactly?” Adam asked.“In due time, you'll know.” I responded.“By the way, you and Penelope should get going. Have the others retreat and leave. When my brother's warriors arrive, it'll be hard to leave.”“Your brother?” Adam asked.“Yes, my brother Matteo is from the Donovan pack. He has some influence there.”“Oh, I see.” Adam responded.“By the way, how do we reach out to you?”“In Galahad clan. You just have to find the chance. I'll leave the packhouse every red moon so you can find me by that time.” I responded.Adam sighed. “It really is so glad to see you again, but the jewels you gave are not enough to build a pack house.”“I'll send you more when you come to Galahad clan. But please, be very careful and don't put your life in harm's way. Walk in groups so you won't be targeted.”“Okay, thank you Alpha.”“You should get going now.” I said.“Yes,” Adam turned away while Penelope hesitated and turned towards me. “Can I hug you?”I cr
