"Mel, say something," Damien said, the moment she looked away from him.

"I don't know what to say."

"Isn't that your wish? My lawyer has been working hard to make sure this gets sorted and here you are, acting so less concerned."

Melissa said nothing.

"I understand you. You are being racist to me."

She stared at him. "Why would you say that?"

"Isn't that what's on your mind? You wish I was single, had no daughter, no wife. And you wouldn't want to be known for marrying a divorced man. You don't have to keep the truth away from me. I know exactly how you feel."

Melissa shook her head. "You're coming up with unnecessary thoughts in your head."

"If my reasons are not valid then you genuinely do not like me. I'm sure you wouldn't mind if I get myself another woman."

Melissa scoffed. "Can we stop talking about us and focus on the mess we are in?"

"And no. I'm not against you because you have a daughter. I admit I was shocked and jealous to find out about her but she's one of the sweetest l
