Anna's POV The more I stared at Beta Jacob, the more apprehensive I became. I could literally feel life seeping out of me. For the past few weeks when he came around to speak to Alpha Jasper in my presence, he always came with bad news. Shaking my head I tried to push the thought off my mind but the more I tried, it remained stuck in my head. Blinking my eyes rapidly, I held the hem of my dress, squeezing on it like it was going out of fashion. “Be positive.” I muttered, trying to calm myself and my wolf which was already tossing in anger and uneasiness. When it seemed like Beta Jacob wasn't going to state his mission anytime soon, I stepped forward but before I could speak, Alpha Jasper beat me to it. “Are you going to speak or not?” His tone was cold and icy making me scared even more. Rubbing my sweaty palm against my dress, I kept staring at him. It was as if time stood still because I felt it was already half an hour. “My lord, Maya, is awake.” He finally
Alpha Jasper's POV Watching the two bonding made a bright smile appear on my face and I couldn't help but to thank the mom goddess for bringing her back to life. With my hands across my chest, I kept staring, waiting for the perfect time to interrupt them. Immediately Anna asked the one question that had been ringing in her head all along, I signaled the physician to step out and he obliged. Pushing my hands into my pockets, I began to walk towards them and I was quick enough to join them when she called the name SELENA. “I knew she was the one all along but Alpha Jasper wouldn't believe me.” Anna yelled, fist pumping the air. She was about to repeat the same thing when I held her hand from behind, halting her actions. “If you keep up with this, you're going to hurt yourself.” I said, helping her sit back in the chair she was occupying. Now towering about Maya who had her head buried, I asked, “Are you certain?” “Yes.” She nodded and on Anna's request, she recoun
Selena's POV The incessant knocking on my door was getting on my nerves, making me groan in anger. Tossing from one end of my bed to the other, I tried to shut out the noise but the more I tried, the louder it became. Snapping my eyes open, I threw my feet off the bed, and with a large scowl on my face, I groped towards the door and then yanked it open. Glaring at the maid who was standing in front of the door with a fear filled face, I sucked my teeth. “My lady…” she called, breathing like a fish that was let out of water. “Are you going to speak or not?” I yelled, anger running through my veins. For the last few days, I haven't been myself. It was as if I should make the world stand still so I would be able to recover from the emotions which were overwhelming me but I had no such powers. “My lady…” She gasped, trying to hold my hands. In anger, I pushed her off and then banged the door on her face. For the next few minutes they followed, I just stood the
Selena's POV The look on my father's face sent cold chills down my spines. It had been a while since I saw him react this way, not to talk about his eyes which were bloodshot. “Father… what is going on?” I asked with a low tone, trying to close the gap that separated us but I was too scared to move my feet. “I asked a question and I deserve an answer for it.” He yelled. He was the one walking towards me now. “I have no idea what is going on.” I said with a shaky tone only for my hand to go straight to my face the next minute as I tried to soothe the stinging pain that had shot up to my brain. “Father… you slapped me?” This was the first time he was doing something of this sort. “I did and I will do it again.” He yelled. “Each day, I keep regretting why I gave birth to you, I would have pulled out instead of making your mother go through agonizing pains of bringing you to the world.” He yelled in my face. “You're my worst mistake.” His words went straight into my hea
Anna's POV It was already three hours since Maya returned to the palace, but I was still giddy with excitement. I was glad that she was alive and also, Selena had been caught in her game. Smacking my lips, I tied my hair up in a messy bun, watching the physician prepare medicine with the herbs he had brought in earlier. Maya was asleep and even though I was drained of my energy, I dare not shut my eyes for fear of what was going to happen to her. “My lady, you should have some rest.” The physician said immediately, like he was reading my mind. “I’m fine, you don't need to worry about me.” I replied with a little smile to support my claim. My words didn't convince him, the look on his face said it all but he didn't say anything, instead he returned his attention to the medicine he was preparing. Holding her hand, I began to massage it, thinking about the pains she must have gone through back in the woods. Another thing I was grateful for was the rogue wolves coul
Selena's POV With each step I took, it gradually began to dawn on me the deep mess I was in. It was as if I was in a dream, a bad dream which I was desperate to wake up from. Snapping my eyes shut, I took in a deep breath before opening them once more. “Father,” I muttered, biting my lower lips as anger mixed with hatred welled up inside of me. Yes! I understand he was mad at me; I was the one who made him lose his mate and also made him a laughing stock among the council of elders, but that doesn't mean he should push me off when he gets the slightest opportunity. With the way he had acted, it was apparent he had been waiting for the right time to get rid of me and immediately he got it, he didn't think twice. Blinking my eyes rapidly to send back the tears that had welled up in them, I remembered my mother. If only she was still here with us, this wouldn't be happening. She would have found a way to pull me out of this mess even if it meant placing her life on
Selena’s POV In a thousand years to come, I doubt if I will forget this day, the embarrassment and everything that came with it. The maids and guards whom I had once had control over were staring at me, pointing their fingers and at the same time making snide comments which I didn't want to hear. If I did, I doubt if I would let go easily. I will be prompted to teach one of them a lesson, thereby worsening my current situation. “What am I going to do now?” This was the only question ringing in my head. For Alpha Jasper to send Beta Jacob to come fetch me, that means he had strong evidence against me. “I should have stabbed her neck instead of her stomach. I know for sure, she wouldn't have survived it.” My eyes were already burning with hot tears which I wasn't going to allow to roll down. Showing my vulnerability would be the last thing I will do, I’d rather die than to do that. On getting to the courtroom, I took in a deep breath and immediately the doors were
Alpha Jasper's POV My words must have struck a chord in her because the look on her face was like she was going to pass out the next second. Selena being the cunny one must have come up with different things to wriggle herself out of my grip but not this time. Knowing this, I had braced myself up in readiness to square off with her until she exhausted every little tactic she was going to throw my way. “Should I prove you wrong?” I broke the silence in the courtroom. “I have no idea what you're talking about.” She rapped. “I still stand my ground that Anna is the one who framed me.” She pressed on. Snapping my fingers, Beta Jacob quickly rushed to my side, wielding the silver dagger we had recovered from the woods. “What about this?” I asked, waving the weapon above my head. “My dagger.” She cried out with a look of surprise on her face. In this case, a novice would think she was innocent. “Why was it in the woods?” “I have no idea. I have been searching for
