Chapter 23 Anna's POV After what seemed like forever, the knocking ceased, but neither Maya nor I left our positions. We just stood there staring at each other. Half an hour later, Maya pulled herself up and then went straight for the door. Crouching to the level of the keyhole, she peeped outside. After several minutes of squinting and tossing around, probably to get a better view, she straightened up. “Are they still there?” I asked, staring at her with an inquisitive look. “I need to confirm.” She replied and then yanked the door open. She poked her head outside as a stream of light rushed into the room. “They are gone.” She announced and I sighed in relief. She was about to slam the door shut but stopped midway and I wondered why. Thinking it was my parents on the other end, I groped my way towards the door and then leaned over her but to my surprise, it turned out to be one of the neighbours, a redhead busty woman I had always tried to avoid. Raising my brow, I w
Anna's POV After Maya took her leave, I resumed chewing on my food slowly, my mind totally blank as I awaited her return. When it seemed she had no intention of returning to the table, I pulled myself up and then made my way to the living room. Getting to the living room, I met Maya resting against the door with her gaze fixed to the floor. Wondering what the issue was, I hastened towards her and, with a low tone, asked. “What is the issue?” “They are outside.” She replied. Casting my gaze to the door, I returned it to her and with my gaze narrowed at her, I asked, “What are you talking about?” Before she could respond to my question, a knock came through and I veered backwards, startled a bit. When the knock came through the second time, Maya grabbed the handle and then yanked the door open. My mouth dropped on seeing the early morning guests we were having. This time around, it was not only my parents but Alpha Noah standing right beside them. “Have you both been asle
Anna's POV Presently, I didn't know what to make out of Alpha Noah's decision. Honestly, it sounded stupid and rash. If only he knew who he wanted to deal with, he wouldn't have said what he just said. Rolling my eyes to the back of my head, I straightened up, my gaze still fixed on him. On the other hand, he was staring at me with pleading eyes and it made me livid. “Are you even thinking?” I finally asked, not taking my eyes off him even for a moment. “What are you talking about?” He asked with a raised brow. I didn't give a response to his question, instead, I just heaved and then threw my head backwards. Alpha Jasper was ruthless and evil; if there was another name that was stronger than those two, I would have awarded them to him. Not only that, he was bigger and stronger and in terms of warfare, I haven't seen his match since birth. If Alpha Jasper gets to hear Alpha Noah speak, I bet it would result in a war which Alpha Noah would lose to. Alpha Jasper was going to w
Chapter 26 Anna's POV Even though Alpha Noah had been saying invalid things, my interest was piqued when he snapped his fingers. No doubt, he had something important to say, and I, in turn, was itching to hear it. “We are listening,” Maya said. She still had her gaze fixed on him, too, the same as mom and stepfather. “How much did he purchase her from you?” He asked. “Why? Is that necessary here?” Stepfather asked, his voice an octave high. “I want to know.” Came his response and after a brief pause, he said, “I'm certain you guys want to take her back because you don't have the money to pay back…” he was still speaking when Maya hit her fist on the door. With her eyes red with anger, she pointed her fingers to her head saying, “Have you lost it?” “What are you talking about? I'm just trying to be of help here, nothing more.” He replied, allowing his shoulders to slump. Still glaring at him, I parted my lips to speak but words refused to form. I was angry at his utter
Anna's POV After my declaration, the expression on everyone's face changed. One after the other, I took in everything until I was done. Out of everyone, it was only Alpha Noah who wore a disappointed look. My mother looked happy, my father was relieved, and Maya wore a neutral expression. Shifting my weight from one foot to the other, I awaited who was going to break the silence which was becoming uncomfortable. “Are you sure of what you are saying?” Mother asked and I nodded. “Yes, I will return with you,” I affirmed, nodding my head to show I was being sincere with my words. “Thank you, Anna, thank you so much. You don't have any idea what you have done to me right now.” Mom cried, falling on her knees as she grabbed my hand. Not pleased with the drama she was acting, I tried to pull away but she held on, causing me to sigh. “Anna, I know you were going to make the right decision. I'm so proud of you right now.” Stepfather said, grinning from side to side. Instead of
Anna's POV “Anna, is everything alright?” Mother asked but I didn't respond, instead, I turned around and then ran towards Maya and without thinking, I jumped on her, sobbing uncontrollably. This was just too much for me to handle. Saying I was overwhelmed was just an understatement of my current feelings. I felt I was being deprived of my happiness and every good thing in life. “Please calm down,” Maya said, patting my head with a hand while using the other to rub soothing circles on my back. By the time I pulled away from her, I had to grab my head since it was aching. My eyes hurt too and now my vision is blurry. “Trust me, I will come visit or maybe move into the pack so I can be with you,” Maya said. “You will?” I asked, my eyes glinting with renewed hope. “Yeah, but please, be safe. Take good care of yourself and avoid getting into trouble.” “I will. Thank you for everything, your kind gesture will be the last thing I will forget.” Smiling, she said, “Go on, t
Alpha Jasper's POV Since the day began, I have been in my study room, trying to gather my thoughts and at the same time struggling to maneuver my way around some issues on ground. One of the most disturbing issues was that of the rogues who had been attacking the neighbouring packs. It had been very disturbing news and the subjects were already panicking. It wasn't as if I cared about what the pack members thought about me but I felt I was incompetent. Well, I believe they won't get into my pack for whatever reason. “They won't even dare come close to my pack. They will keep lurking around…” I was still speaking to myself when someone knocked on the door. “Come in,” I said offhandedly as I reached out for the bottle of ink lying by my side. “Your Highness.” Beta Jacob said with a curt bow. “The council meeting will begin in five minutes.” He announced. “Alright, I will join in,” I replied, waving him off. Once again, he did the curt bow before stepping out of my office an
Alpha Jasper's POV The silence in the room was so deafening that even if a needle fell on the floor, it would be as audible as when a glass cup crashed. Slowly, I allowed my lips to part into a sinister smile and at once the expression on the faces of the elders changed. All I could see on their faces was fear, nothing more than that. “Come,” I beckon Davis, who immediately exchanged eye contact with his colleagues as his throat made an up-and-down movement just like a piston. When he finally appeared in front of me, I allowed my smile to widen as I leaned towards him. “Are you tired of living?” I asked, still sporting my smile. He couldn't find his tongue to answer before I continued, “Ripping your heart off your chest and handing it to your fellow elders is one the easiest things for me to do.” “Moreover, they will be glad to have a taste of your heart,” I added. Once again, his throat made that piston movement but I wasn't done with him yet. “The next time you try to b
