Lydia’s POv

I pushed my wolf to my feet and shook my fur as delightful thoughts of decapitating the men filled me.

“No Drusilla. Just defend. No attacks,” I warned my wolf.

In response, she cocked her head and purred as the men’s fear coated the air.

I watched in amusement as the men began to retrieve weapons from their suits.

They withdrew knives and short looking spikes, even one or two pistols.

But despite their arms I could tell they were afraid. And they had good reason too because unless they magically developed super speed, none of those toys would touch my fur.

I growled menacingly as one of the men came closer with his hand angled to throw his knife.

He threw the knife and I jerked back too late to se the triumph in his eyes.

I howled in pain as I felt a sharp blade dig into my back.

I turned immediately to see the two men who had been missing behind me.

“Protect the
