Leah POV I could feel it fighting to wake up. It badly wanted to be seen. It felt very suffocated and all my emptiness and emotions of late haven’t been helping matters. I held my chest and I tried to control it. I was losing air. It seemed to be more energetic but the fortifying illusion spell I cast some weeks back didn’t make it very easy for her to reveal herself. “Anne, what’s wrong? Somebody call the healer or something,” I heard Damian roar but it sounded so far away like it was from a distant place where I could not get to. He held me in his arms and I could see his eyes had changed color to a very bright amber. He was livid. The one who had stolen those gems would definitely not find it very easy to escape anymore. Everything seemed very blurry and I silently prayed for my wolf to go back to sleep. The longer she kept up with this the faster I would turn to my normal self, Leah. “Dam...Ian,” I tried to call his name. “Where is the damn healer?” He roared. My eyes wer
Leah POV Stephanie immediately stopped in her tracks the moment she heard Damian's voice from the doorway. Plastering a fake smile on her face, she began to soothingly rub her hands against my shoulders while giving it a gentle squeeze. “Please, do take care of yourself more. We all get worried when something bad happens to you, especially Damian. Try to be more careful for his sake,” She cautioned. I could tell she was very irritated and was probably using all the strength she had inside her to utter the filthy lies that were coming out of her mouth. Damian came to stand beside me, placing a small affectionate kiss on the top of my head. I could only imagine how Stephanie was steaming on the inside. She loathed me so much and it was all because of Damian. “She’s right honey, I can’t bear to see you in this condition,” He said. I gave him a small smile without replying and watched as she kept her fake smile in place before walking out of the room. I didn’t know when it happened
Leah POV My eyes were stinging from the tears that were welling up inside them. I trembled in anger, a lump growing in my throat. I couldn't let him use me in such a way. Thomas was really a scum who would do anything and everything just to rule all the werewolf territories, to be the ultimate Alpha King. He planned to do that by slowly taking their lands and territories. Alpha Elijah was one of the most powerful that allied with Damian. If he found out about who I really was, things would get really messy as he would think it was all a plot by Damian and that would only spell war with Thomas, spectating. I wondered why my nails hadn’t already dug open my skin with how fiercely I was clenching my fists. “I will never let you use me in such a way,” I spat through gritted teeth. He smiled, “Ohh, but you will,” He paused. “I am sure that you've done the math in that tiny head of yours, Leah. You know the consequences of your actions. This is a more easier way than the latter I hav
Connor POV No. I didn't want to imagine that, I didn't want to think about that. I thought silently to myself as I covered my eyes to try to ingest everything I heard a few hours ago. I could be wrong and perhaps he meant someone else. There was no way Stephanie would be capable of doing such a thing. “You have seen her try to kill Anne,” A voice in my head spoke. “No!” I yelled and tossed the steel cup sitting on the wooden table where my hands were currently placed.“Connor, are you alright?” Evelyn placed a hand on my shoulder. I shrugged it off involuntarily, then looked back at her to see the horrid look on her face. She must not have expected it but I was in no mood at the moment to speak with anyone. My mind was still wandering deeply. I had seen the worker walk away with fear, shivering as he left through that same path. I was right about it being a different route, it was far from the factory but a little close to the pack house. He was muttering as he was leaving an
Connor POVI stormed back into my room and banged my fist on the wall. Hearing a gasp, I turned to see a very shocked Anne. She placed her palm over her mouth. “I’m sorry,” I apologized quickly, equally shocked to see her. I didn’t know what she was doing in my room. “I’m so sorry you saw that,” I said, more composed now. She walked up to me with careful steps, “No, it’s fine. I’m just curious to know why you’re so frustrated,” She said calmly, then took a seat on the edge of my bed. Her face looked so forlorn and sad. “What’s the matter with you, Princess Anne? You don't look so good,” I couldn't help but say.She smiled weakly, “I could say the same thing about you,” If only she knew. “How are you feeling now?” I asked her. She had been going through a lot and we hadn't spoken in a while. “I feel a lot better, Connor. Thanks a lot,” “You don’t seem okay, are you sure that you’re okay?” I needed to make sure. It felt like she had so much unshed tears already welled up in h
Leah POVMy heart had been so heavy after my encounter with Thomas and I didn’t know what to do or who to talk to. He only gave me seven days. Within those seven days, I had to make a choice. He didn’t leave me with much choice. Two days had already gone by and I was yet to make a decision. My head was going berserk with each passing second. My talk with Connor had helped me a little but in no time, realization set in and I realized that there was no escaping this.I was frantically pacing around in my room when the doors opened to reveal Stephanie.“What are you doing here now?” I asked her exasperatedly. She was the reason why I was in this mess. I hated her so much.“I was checking to see if you’ve crawled out of your skin yet and revealed your true self.” She said. Then it hit me. She was spying on me. Perhaps, Thomas has asked her to do it.
Connor POVI couldn't sit and wait around any longer. I had to find out the truth no matter what.I didn’t know what I would find although my mind was already whispering to me who it was that stole the gem. I knew, but I refused to admit to it.I waited outside the factory until the moon rose in the sky, then waited for all the workers to begin to come out.I was waiting, not for all of them, but for one.Using the shadows, I hid myself in the dark just behind the factory, and it took a while but I finally saw him walk outside. He was scrawny and thin and looked very malnourished.Anne never starved her workers so I wondered why he was looking the way he was. I waited for him to head out into the woods before trailing behind him, stealthily.I needed to be out of sight, especially from those who were just leaving the factory. He was following very strange routes and kept walking d
Leah POVI lay beside Damian, his heat coursing through my body. I was sandwiched in between his arms and should feel very safe, but I wasn't.I couldn't sleep as my mind kept wandering. I didn't know what to do anymore. It felt like each time I closed my eyes, another day swept by so fast. Another day had gone again and it was only a few days before Thomas carried out his threats.Damian stirred a little, and I held my breath. I didn’t want him to know that I was awake.“Stop,” I heard him say.“What?” I asked him gently. It was obvious that he was half awake.“It’s like I can hear you thinking and it’s so loud,” He said.I felt my wolf squirm on the inside. It was like she responded to him.“I’m sorry, please go on with your sleep,” I said softly and tried to pat his head but he held my wrist, and slo
