Reagan's POV

Always be nice.

Always be kind.

Forgive those who hurt you and live your life happily.

My mother's words echoed in my mind as I stared down from the balcony, looking at them.

I'm sorry, Mother. But I cannot be nice. I can't be kind. And I will never forgive those who have hurt me.

My hands clenched as the memories surged—the sound of her desperate cries, the sight of blood pouring from her mouth, and most especially, the way she still looked at my father with love even as she died in his hands.

Never.

I will never forgive.
