Guinevere’s POV

My heart pounded in my chest as I stood there, forcing my breathing to remain steady.

I willed myself to stay calm, to mask every bit of hesitation threatening to seep through. A simple smile that’s all it took. Just one convincing smile.

But Reagan… he knew me too well.

What if he saw through it?

What if he realized that what I was about to say was a lie?

No.

I couldn't let that happen.

If Reagan discovered that I knew about the solution, he would be pissed and knowing Reagan he could lock me up just to ensure I don’t live and Rya I couldn’t imagine how hurt he would be with her... I couldn't allow that.

I took a deep breath, steadying myself.

I won’t let that happen.

When this was all over, I didn’t mind begging for his forgiveness. I’d take whatever consequences came my way as long as Reagan was safe, I’d be okay.

The door creaked open, and then he walked in.

A soft smile graced his lips as his deep blue eyes locked onto mine, making my breath hitch.

“Andrea.”

Guinevere POVI would say my love for Hayden was love at first sight. Being both Alpha’s children and heirs, there was a connection I felt the moment we first met, and I knew he was the one for me. Growing up together, there was always a comparison between us; being children of such great Alphas, we were given a responsibility that no other kids had experienced. Whenever I felt down, Hayden was there—he was like a light in a tunnel, a happy place to go where I never felt lost. He never judged me and saw me for who I am.I could never forget the day I was chosen to be his Mate. I couldn’t express the feeling I felt. It was as if the moon goddess was rooting for me by giving me the best mate. And now we get to spend forever together.“You look so beautiful,” Shayla exclaimed, entering the room with my sister Abagail in tow.“You’re okay,” Gail added with a shudder, her unique way of expressing admiration. I couldn’t help but smile at her familiar teasing.“Thanks, Gail,” I replied with

Reagan POV"Ugh," the woman's groans grew louder with each step I took down the dimly lit corridor."It should be me," she said breathlessly as she kissed him, her voice a mixture of longing and frustration. "I should be the one there.""Don't worry," Hayden replied, his voice low and filled with deceit. "Once this darn ceremony is over, I'll reject her and make you mine," he said, returning her kiss with equal fervor."Ugh," she moaned again, their soft gasps filling the room. The sound of their bodies slapping together echoed off the walls, a symphony of betrayal.I rested my head against the door frame, watching them through the creak. They were too preoccupied with their illicit affair to even notice my presence.Clap. Clap. Clap. The sound of my slow applause cut through the room like a knife. They jolted apart, their eyes wide with panic as they scrambled to pull on their clothes."What the hell," Hayden spat, his teeth clenched in fury as he saw me standing there."I couldn't h

Guinevere POV"What's the meaning of this?" My father's voice thundered through the room, his fury directed at Alpha Lance.Alpha Lance looked stricken, his usual composure shattered. "I'm sorry," he stammered, his regret evident."Sorry isn't going to fix this!" My father roared, pacing back and forth, his anger palpable."Geoffrey, calm down," my mother urged, her voice soothing yet firm. "The ceremony has been performed; there's nothing we can do now.""No," I interjected, my voice trembling with a mix of anger and desperation. How could she even say that? "I'm going to reject him. I love Hayden, and I'll do whatever it takes to get him back.""You can't, Guinevere," my mother said gently, but with a hint of sadness. "It's not that simple, especially after the ceremony has taken place."I ignored her, turning instead to Grandmother Lana, a flicker of hope in my eyes. "There is a way, right?" I pleaded. She sighed deeply, the weight of her years and wisdom evident. "The ceremony has

Reagan's POVI stared at the ceiling, her soft breathing filling the room. A gentle reminder of her presence. I turned to look at her, curled up on the couch. How could she sleep so peacefully on that small, uncomfortable piece of furniture? The couch seemed to barely contain her, yet she looked serene as if it were the most comfortable place in the world.Whatever.I laid back down, pulled the blanket up to my chest, and shut my eyes, willing myself to sleep. The events of the day replayed in my mind, each moment making it harder to find rest.Damn it.My eyes snapped open, staring at the dark ceiling once more.EarlierI watched as she looked away from my gaze, giving me space as if she were afraid I might contaminate her. I pulled off my shirt, feeling her eyes on me. She tried to look away, but her gaze slowly ran over my exposed chest, lingering on the large, jagged scar on my chest."Are you done staring?" I asked with a smirk, breaking the tense silence. She cleared her throat,

Guinevere's POV I tossed around slowly, pulling up the blanket and tucking myself into it. The bed was soft, the covers warm. With everything that had happened, it was nice to finally enjoy a restful night in such a comfortable bed. Wait... bed? Snapping my eyes open, I sat up and looked around. I was in my bed, but the last thing I remembered was falling asleep on the couch. I stared at the couch, piecing it together, and then it hit me. Reagan. With a sigh, I got down from the bed. Today was going to be a good day. It was the day Reagan would stand before everyone to see if the Alpha ring would accept him as the true Alpha. I couldn't help but smirk at the thought of his embarrassed face when the ring rejected him and Hayden claimed his rightful title as the true Alpha—and I, his true Luna. My smile widened. God, if only time could move ten times faster. Glancing around the empty room, I made sure there was no sight of Reagan. Satisfied he wasn't around, I pulled off my c

Reagan's POVAlways be nice.Always be kind. Forgive those who hurt you and live your life happily. My mother's words echoed in my mind as I stared down from the balcony, looking at them.I'm sorry, Mother. But I cannot be nice. I can't be kind. And I will never forgive those who have hurt me.My hands clenched as the memories surged—the sound of her desperate cries, the sight of blood pouring from her mouth, and most especially, the way she still looked at my father with love even as she died in his hands.Never.I will never forgive. The scene below seemed distant, almost surreal, as I remembered her final moments. The anguish in her eyes, the helplessness I felt, and the betrayal of a man who should have protected her. My heart hardened, the smirk tugging at my lips fueled by a mix of anger and resolve. I leaned in, watching the drama unfold with a detached curiosity.Andrea was there, clearly hurt by the sight of her beloved Hayden wrapped in Shayla's arms. If only she knew what

Guinevere's POV “Why don’t we say our wishes?” Reagan said, stopping me just as I was about to leave the room. “What?” I turned back to face him, confusion flickering in my eyes. “Remember the bet we made. Tell me what you want me to do if I lose.” I took a step closer, staring directly into his eyes. “If the ring rejects you, I need you to surrender peacefully and apologize to Hayden in front of everyone.” Reagan nodded solemnly. “Deal.” “Now it’s my turn. If the ring accepts me as the true alpha, you must be loyal to me no matter what happens. You must always be on my side,” he declared, his voice steady and resolute. “Okay,” I said, barely concealing my disbelief. I had no intention of taking his words seriously. The ring would never accept a traitor like him. “Is that all?” I asked, arching an eyebrow. He smiled, taking another step closer. “You see, I have a little trust issue.” I couldn’t help but scoff. “I’m pretty sure I’m the one who should be saying that.” “I’m a

Rya's POVThe stupid knot in my chest just wouldn’t go away.I clenched my jaw, pacing the room in restless frustration.I didn’t do anything wrong.Right?Guinevere had every right to know. As much as Reagan loved her, she wasn’t some fragile child. She could make her own decisions. She deserved that much. And it’s not like she was going to die or anything…I exhaled sharply, raking a hand through my hair.“F*ck.”Why did things always have to be this way? Why did doing the right thing always feel so wrong?A sudden cough pulled me from my thoughts.I turned sharply, my heart lurching as I saw Otis sitting up in bed, his dark eyes bleary with confusion. His fingers pressed against his temple as if trying to steady his thoughts.Without hesitation, I grabbed the cup of water from the nightstand and handed it to him."Here, drink this."He took a slow sip, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed. Guinevere's POVI shut the book with a sharp thud, the sound echoing through the empty library. A frustrated sigh left my lips as I leaned back in my chair, rubbing my temples. The library had practically become my second home ever since the meeting with the elders. Books upon books surrounded me, pages filled with knowledge, yet none of them held the answers I so desperately sought. And thankfully, Reagan wasn’t here.He had gone to a meeting on the south side, giving me a moment of solitude no forced smiles, no pretending that I was fine. Because I wasn’t.How could I be when the hex was still a looming threat?I worried for him, more than he probably realized. And yet, every time I looked into his eyes, all I saw was that same reassuring smile, that same determination to act like everything was okay. But I knew better.Deep down, he had to be terrified.Terrified that one day, the hex would take control. That he would do something unforgivable.I clenched my jaw and grabbed another

"Rya, maybe we should—""Again!" I snapped, cutting him off.Reluctantly, he lunged at me. I blocked his strike, but he was faster this time—his foot connected with my legs, sweeping them from under me.I hit the ground with a thud, a sharp groan escaping my lips. My fingers dug into the dirt as the frustration clawed at my insides."Maybe we should take five," he suggested, his tone careful."No," I growled, pushing myself up once more. Guinevere's POVToday had been an overwhelming mess, a whirlwind of chaos that left my mind spinning. First, Reagan and the elders, then the horror of watching the killer bite off his own tongue, and now this—Reagan and Hayden, fists flying, pure rage crackling in the air like a violent storm."What's wrong with you two?" I shouted as I rushed toward them, shoving myself between their tense bodies. My hands pressed against their chests, trying to force them apart.Reagan’s breathing was heavy, his jaw clenched so tight I could see the muscle twitch. A thin cut on his lips oozed a slow trickle of blood, but he barely seemed to notice. His icy blue eyes burned with fury, locked onto Hayden.Hayden, on the other hand, stood rigid, his fists still curled at his sides, his chest rising and falling in rapid, angry breaths. His dark eyes flashed with something dangerous—resentment, frustration, maybe even something deeper."Why don’t you ask him?" Reagan spat, his voice thick with barely con

Reagan's POVFlashbackTick. Tock. Tick. Tock. The clock on the wall seemed louder than usual, each second dragging on forever. In just a few minutes, I would stand before the elders. This could go really well… or it could take a sharp turn south.I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling a slow breath, forcing myself to remain composed. The weight of the moment settled heavily on my chest, but I had long since mastered the art of masking my emotions. The door creaked open, and Andrea walked in.She didn’t say anything at first. She just looked at me, her eyes full of concern. No matter how hard I tried to hide my feelings, she always saw right through me.“You okay?” she asked softly.I forced a smile. “Of course. Can’t wait to see their faces when we show them the real killer.”She didn’t laugh.Instead, she closed the distance between us and wrapped her arms around me in a firm embrace.I stiffened for half a second before my body instinctively relaxed. Reagan's POVI stepped into the town hall, my boots echoing against the polished stone floor, each step measured, deliberate. The room was already filled, the Elders seated in their high-backed chairs, their expressions a mix of stern judgment and anticipation. If only they knew what awaited them.My eyes swept across the hall, noting familiar faces—some filled with worry, others with satisfaction, eager to witness my downfall.Andrea sat near the front, her hands clasped tightly in her lap, her brows furrowed with concern. Our eyes met, and I offered her a small reassuring smile, though my chest tightened at the worry in her gaze. Then there was Hayden. His face remained unreadable, but the way his jaw twitched and his hands curled into fists at his sides told me everything. Hatred. Resentment. Reagan’s POVFlashback "Next time, lock the door," Grandmother Lana teased, her eyes twinkling with mischief. I let out a chuckle, shaking my head. "Duly noted," I muttered, though my ears still burned from earlier. As I walked her toward the grand entrance of the **Shadow Fang Pack house, the cold night air nipped at my skin, sending a chill down my spine. The moon cast a pale glow over the stone pathway, illuminating the gentle yet wise features of the woman who had been a second mother to me. Lana turned to face me, her silver-streaked hair glinting softly under the moonlight. A warm smile tugged at her lips as she raised a wrinkled hand, cupping my cheek. Her touch was gentle yet firm, the way it had always been when I was a child seeking comfort. "You know I'll do anything for you," she said softly, her voice carrying a quiet strength. "You're Amelia’s boy." Something in my chest tightened. My mother’s boy. That’s what she always called me. I let my eyes flutter shut for j
