Chapter 3

When he appeared in the common office, he could see the employees passing venomous stares on him.

He was dumped and sad. Weren’t they satisfied that he finally gave up on the only thing that made sense to him? Why was it not that those who were underprivileged were never given an equal chance to live life and love someone?

“He might as well go and clean toilets, that is where he belongs. He shouldn’t have tried to claim what could never be his.  our beautiful CEO is way above him in all manners.” one employee said.

“I heard that he hangs around the house doing nothing. He is so shameless and lazy. He should have been a man enough to look for a job as his mates are doing. what is fucking wrong with him?” another one said.

Then someone came running in to the office and the crowd couldn’t wait to hear the latest gossip” I have good news, guys. That good for nothing is finally out of the picture. He has been forced to sign the divorce papers and the madam is happy now. She is even celebrating in her office. And guess what!  I have more news only for you guys.”

“More…. let us hear about it already. This is so interesting “A woman screamed out not caring that Josh was just standing by listening to their merry.

“Yeah…... the rumor has it that she is set to marry the handsome son of the Ember family and I think that Nick is more of her class than that idiot. Oh…that asshole always made me so nauseous.”

“Do you all see what I am seeing. Nick controls his father’s fortune and they are a very big business player in this industry. If the two of them combine to become one, then we will be unstoppable. We will get a salary raise, may be get a grant to buy cars and so on and so on. I knew that the day that Josh or whoever he is called will go, then we will start enjoying ourselves.”

“Anyway, let us rush to the banquet. The show is about to start. I wouldn’t want to miss it any bit “the employees all stood up and disappeared.

How could he be this stupid? Alicia and her family loved only money. He couldn’t believe that she was ready to replace him that fast.

 With a dejected look, he walked slowly to their home.  He didn’t even want to call a cab. He just wanted to think on what was the next course of his action.

However, when he reached home, another scene was waiting for him.

 His mother-in-law and brother-in-law were sitting in the house drinking an expensive bottle of wine. They were definitely celebrating good news.

“Huh…...I was so happy when I heard the news.  You are now officially a street beggar. Anyway, I will miss your services, slave “Rachel, Alicia’s mother said on his face. This woman has never even once appreciated him and considered him as a human being.

 She saw him as a burden that they couldn’t wait to get rid of.

“Mom, please, there is no need to call me names. I am already leaving and I don’t want any trouble from you guys. Let me go and pick up my stuff from the bedroom and you all won’t ever see me again.” Josh said emotionally.

 Without warning, the woman raised his hand and gave him a hard slap on the face” who the fuck are you calling your mother, idiot. Apart from being an orphan, you are useless.  Even your biological mother never wanted you. Did you think that I will ever love you with your pitiful self?”

Oh…...God, could he have a single break to catch his breath. He was tired of hearing all this insults. when would it end? All that he was looking for was love. Was it this hard for this people to give him just a little affection?

At that moment, he realized that he had to stand up for himself. No one was going to bully him again. He must be nothing now but he still has his dignity.

 “You didn’t need to hit me you, know. I accept that I am an orphan but I also deserve to be respected. I have done all that I can for you and your children. Please do not taste my patience anymore.” He said coldly.

 The expensive wine came splashing on his face.

 “How dare you talk to my mother like that, bastard “Douglas, Alicia’s brother chimed in looking drunk already. All he ever knew how to do is drink alcohol, in the morning, lunch time and in the evening while he worked hard to help Alicia.

“I wasn’t talking to you, idiot. This is the last time you are going to harass me. I won’t stand your nonsense ever again because I have lost the woman who meant the world to me “he said defiantly and that was when the man brought up his hands to punch him.

Josh’s eyes darkened immediately. It was time to retaliate. He was going to enjoy teaching him a lesson. He just didn’t know how many times he had wanted to hit that ugly face of his.

 He held his hands midair and twisted it to his back with strength. Douglas screamed in pain. He didn’t expect the useless man who he has spent 3 years bullying to be this strong “I told you that I am not in the best moods ever and you have to be very careful with me. Next time you think of laying those filthy hands on me, I might forget and kill you. Try me “

“Are you threatening me, good for nothing? “Douglas wouldn’t give up yet.

 His eyes were dark with scorn even Douglas trembled with fear “I just did. Don’t take my silence for weakness all these years. I can be your worst enemy.”

 He let go and when he turned his back to leave, the man came on him again. he grabbed his throat and pushed him back. He fell on the floor with a thud and hit his head on the wall.

Josh then went closer to his face and muttered “I won’t take shit from you anymore. All I want to do is take my belongings and leave. Don’t interrupt me again” he roared.
