Mr. Welkin definitely knew which side to take at times like this. He just knelt before Mrs. Welkin's apartment while banging on the door. The banging lasted for about 15 minutes.

Everyone in the apartment block could hear him pounding on the door. Even so, Mrs. Welkin was adamant to keep the door shut forever.
