But soon, I saw my mom, Nicholas, and Millie appearing unscathed in front of the camera.

It turned out that the fridge and the freezer stopped working at the same time last night. The piles of meat stored in the freezer were defrosted, causing the bloodied water to seep out from beneath the freezer. That explained why the entire apartment was flooded.

The trio didn't have a day job of their own. Every day, they'd sleep in until almost noon. That was why they only found out about the fridge and the freezer breaking down after they got out of bed.

My mom covered her nose while cursing at the top of her lungs. "Shit! These appliances were working well most of the time! Why did they break down all of a sudden?

"The steak and seafood that I just bought have already gone bad! Ugh, I can't believe I lost thousands of dollars just like that! I'm so mad right now!"

Nicholas was disgusted, so to speak. "Ugh, it reeks! Mom, hurry up and tell the hired help to come clean this place up!"
