Donna's POV

After leaving my house, I began to wonder what would happen next. I wouldn't mind being away from there till my step family were gone, but was it really alright for me to stay with Theoden? He was even yet to tell me what he gained from all these?

Why were there two huge guards in suits seated with me at the back, while Rufus drove the car? None of them said a word to me. I was still elated at my revenge, but with the uncertainty ahead, I became quiet again.

"Excuse me, sirs."

  • The Alpha Don's Defiant Heiress   Introductions

Donna's POV I read through the new contract given to me. My eyes shifted to the little girl, staring at me. I didn't expect a child within the mafia, especially in one as tense as this. I looked back at the contract she had given me. It was identical to Contract 21 except I'd be the main receiver of this one, and not my father. Should I see it as simply changing autonomy? I knew Theoden could be sneaky. I rubbed my temples. Why did I bother overthinking? Theoden had no reason to secretly betray me. He already had a good cut, though I didn't know how much. I should still be aware of these things. Our last conversation sounded like he had my best interest in mind. I should give him more trust. "Pen, please?" I stretched my hand to the girl. Her fingers tightened around the pen. I knew that reaction all too well from teaching first grade during summer. This girl didn't like me. That was odd since we were meeting for the first time. There had been a knock on the door, a

  • The Alpha Don's Defiant Heiress   Working

Theoden’s POV I would be really busy for the next few days. There was a lot of underground work to be done in case her stepfamily tried to file a missing person report. They were not above being shameless even if she was a grown woman they had ordered around. "Tomorrow, get her lawyer to handle the will of the late father and what pertains to her company." I told Rufus, taking a sip of my coffee. "Bring them in." I could hear Hansel scratching the door impatiently. Rufus opened the door, and a dark-haired girl, gripping a cat by its stomach, shuffled inside quickly. I could never understand how that cat, Chin, was comfortably being held like that. After many checks, we confirmed he actually was. I slid my chair back, giving the little girl a chance to wedge herself between my thighs, saying nothing. As always. Chin left her hold and got on my table. I grabbed my glass of coffee from the edge before he got to it. A soft sigh left me. "Thank you, Rufus." He was still at t

  • The Alpha Don's Defiant Heiress   Aware

Chapter Nine: Aware Theoden's POV My grandfather really pulled a number on me by letting this girl's safety be his dying wish. However, so far, I wasn't enjoying this. She was gritty enough to survive a hellhole for long, and used that grit to pass her judgment on them. She wouldn't be depending on us as much as I thought. In a way, that disappointed me a little. "Do you know anything about what he does for work? Or what we'd be doing to assist you?" It was fair that she wanted to start her path, but did she have any clue how tedious it would be? "The company is currently being run by your father's supervisor, whom we have contacted to keep it up until you're twenty-five." I answered, while checking my tab for emails. "Twenty-five?" She slapped the bed, and I looked up from my tab. "Why would you make that decision without informing me?" She wasn't offended that the decision was made, but that it was made without her consent. That meant she understood why it was ma

Why were there two huge guards in suits seated with me at the back, while Rufus drove the car? None of them said a word to me. I was still elated at my revenge, but with the uncertainty ahead, I became quiet again. "Excuse me, sirs." I decided to break the silence. These guards jolted like little kids— I swear to the Moon Goddess. I paused what I wanted to say and gave them time to breathe. "Would I be spending the next week at your place?" "Wouldn't you like to?" I knew for sure they were good people so that wasn't a scary idea, however it couldn't be for free. Our parents were close but they couldn't just take me in when I still had a source of livelihood. "I don't mind paying all my expenses." I could pull out all

  • The Alpha Don's Defiant Heiress   Congratulations!

Donna's POV "You heard the lady. Begging would not suffice." Rufus told my stepmother. I doubted she wanted to beg, perhaps gaslight me for all the 'good' things she had done for me, when all those were essentials and done with my biological parents' money. "D-Donna-Belle is currently planning her marriage to a business partner of mine." My stepmother said. "How can I… I leave when such an important day in her life is coming?" That was what she could come up with? I was lost for words. Even despite everything, she still wanted to act shamelessly? Theoden glanced at me and I shook my head. He sighed. In disappointment, relief, or just for the sake of sighing? I didn't know. His expression had taken a straight state since I moved away from him. "And who is this business partner? Does she know she'd be getting married to him?" "She is about to sign the contract." Chris added. "So it isn't signed?" Chris grunted, and I resisted the urge to spit at his face. Did he really

  • The Alpha Don's Defiant Heiress   Leave At Once!

Donna's POV "Chris, you bastard!! Come out here!!" My throat cracked at the end and I held my neck, gasping for breath while my eyes searched for any movement. Theoden turned to me but I looked away, hurrying upstairs. "Follow her." He said to a guard. He sounded amused. What's amusing about this? Did he know how much it meant to me? These jerks were trying to hide all evidence of the abuse I had to go through all these years? I couldn't fathom how shameless they could be. "Chris! Lilith!" I mentioned my stepmother's maiden name. She had never acted like a mother or anyone of respect to me. If my lawyer was finally within reach, then I could banish her out of my sight. I sighted the opened door of the backyard and heard voices. Wait, could it be what I thought it was? Today was Thanksgiving, wasn't it? At least for my stepmother's family. They usually hosted a small family party in the backyard. I smirked. They didn't actually dare to run away. "Who the fuck is yellin
