Chapter Ten: Back to Them
Donna’s POV “I hope we’d all get along,” I said. Theoden stopped me from going further as a black Lamborghini drove out from a cluster of cars toward us. “You will. Greta is easy to talk to when he doesn’t think you’re stupid.” It’d take a while, then. “Good morning, Miss Donna-Belle,” the driver greeted. He was the man I met yesterday at my house with Theoden. I guessed he was his personal assistant. I didn’t even know what Theoden did for work. “Good morning. Hope you slept well?” the assistant asked with a bright smile. “I did, thank you.” He opened the door for me, and I nodded as I entered the car. Such gentle treatment felt foreign to me, but I was determined to get used to it. The ride out of the garage was smooth. “Do you know the name of your family’s lawyer?” My ears perked up. I needed that information to get my hands on the will. “It seems he’s a friend of your stepmother. The lawyer refused to reveal the will, saying the direct descendant of the deceased isn’t ready yet.” My forehead creased. What did that mean? Wasn’t I the one to determine if I was ready or not? “I can meet him myself.” “Yes, and that’s why I threatened to take his life if he didn’t show up at your house this hour. He should hear from you whether you’re ready or not, or his actions will be illegal.” I relaxed, trying to ignore Theoden’s claim to kill a lawyer. Did he have anger issues that made him say such things? They could easily use his words against him. My thoughts ended when I saw a line of cars outside my father’s house, possibly belonging to my stepmother’s friends who were waiting for Theoden and me. “They wouldn’t let me off easily.” “It’s nothing the boss can’t handle. Don’t worry,” the assistant reassured me. I left the car behind Theoden, sticking close to him. Chris shouldn’t find me alone again. My head was pulled up, and I froze, staring into Theoden’s blue and green eyes. “Don’t shiver like that when I’m here,” he said. Something fluttered in my stomach, and I made an “hmm” sound. He let go of my jaw and strolled into the yard. My eyes couldn’t stop following his movements. I finally looked away and rubbed my cheeks. What a crazy thought. I shouldn’t get carried away. “Can we go in now?” the assistant asked. I nearly forgot he was waiting behind me. I hoped he didn’t notice that stupid blush of mine. “Yes, please.” I hurried after Theoden. He waited after his first knock, and when I reached him, the door opened. I hated seeing Chris standing there, staring directly at me. Theoden walked past him without a word. I did the same, lowering my head and squeezing past him so I wouldn’t brush against him. “You came back home on your own,” Chris said, his words making me shiver. I did not come back! I hoped this wasn’t what would end up happening. There were at least four older men in the house, seated and waiting. Theoden took off his jacket and handed it to me. “Sit there.” I looked at where he pointed. That’d be where Chris had stood, as it was the only single chair in the room. The assistant led me to the seat and placed me down. I tried not to look at my stepmother because she’d certainly be glaring. What was I even doing? Running away from my house with a random man? What if he had ill intentions? Did he actually know my father? Was I that desperate? I already knew the answer to that last question. “First of all,” Theoden began. He took out a card from his breast pocket and threw it at the oldest man in the room. “I’d politely ask that none of you speak out of line.” The card landed on the oldest man’s lap, and his eyes widened. He didn’t pick it up but stared at it like it was a bomb about to detonate. Was Theoden that powerful? A CEO? The assistant stood beside me with a relaxed expression, so I tried to relax, too. Chris picked up the card, his expression flattening. My stepmother’s face went pale, and I nearly laughed. Theoden was most definitely a powerful CEO that they dreaded to disrespect. “Now, who’s the lawyer amongst all of you?” A man raised a briefcase. Theoden nodded. “Read out the will.” He leaned against the wall as the lawyer quickly opened the case and ransacked it for the document. Clearing his throat, the lawyer began to read: “…will be given to my beloved daughter, Donna-Belle. The estate at Neville will be given to my beloved daughter, Donna-Belle. The estate at Valence will be given to my beloved wife, Tiana. The building at Coma will be given to my beloved daughter, Donna-Belle. The business, Jerkins, will be given to my beloved wife, Tiana. The cars, Mercedes Ford 21 and Julian 31X, will be given to my stepson, Chris. The building at Juvie will be given to my second wife, Tremaine.” The lawyer sighed in defeat when he finished but still had a relieved look on his face. It must’ve tired him sometimes. I wiped a tear that rolled down my cheek. It was a beautiful conclusion to my whole turmoil, and hearing my mother’s name made me cry. Our father had loved us exceedingly. Even if their marriage had issues, he never forgot her contributions in making him who he became. I hoped they had reunited in the Goddess’ bosom.Chapter One: Donna’s POVThere’s a limit to what one could endure, and my limit had gotten really close. I looked at my stepmother and my step siblings discuss my marriage plans with their guest while I stood in front of them, yet my opinions weren’t sort for.Maybe it’s because I was an orphan after my father’s death and my mother’s assassination, but I was still part of this family and more eligible than they were to answer Draven. The eldest, Chris, walked into the room and handed a file to his file to his mother. She grabbed it and searched through for eligible young wolves from wealthy homes. It was creepy how they had all the information. Also, I was an official rogue like my father, yet they were trying to force me into a pack by marriage. A low ranked wolf like me wouldn’t survive it.My expression was straight, and I stayed quiet while watching this. What was I to do anyway? I still held the broom and mop I had used to clean her room before I was called to the livin
Chapter Two Donna’s POVMy fists clenched on the document so much that it crumpled. What was this old hag saying? I should get married like that? Her eyes flared up when she saw my hand crumped on the file.My eyes were on her and they grew teary because in me, I knew that I had no way to fight this. I was truly all alone in this world and in the palms of my stepmother.“How dare you treat such an important document that way!” Before I could blink, she raised her hand to my face. The slap made the stings in my eyes intensify and I held my cheeks. She grabbed the file but it ripped. My mouth opened as she was stared at me like I did it. “I... I don’t want to get married to some old man. You’d never want this for your daughter so—”Chris left the couch and my remaining words buried itself in my throat. He slowly walked to me and I backed away, wondering what he wanted to do. I tried to plead with him. “Please, I am still your sister. You wouldn’t want Priscilla to marry such

All I had wanted was to take down all the feelings of lose I battled with. It had been a very long time since I lost in something and felt the irreparable damage.I nearly killed one of the spoilt girls in this estate, yet, a part of me held unto her strongly. She had passed out in my arms and something in me panicked. “If you have something you want to say, say it.” I told my wolf.He usually minded his business, but not when it came to women. That’s where we differed because I couldn’t care less. “I obviously didn’t mean to hit her.” I added.I lifted the girl and took her out of the road. Normally, I’d have found a way to take her to the hospital but the wound she got from my bike had already healed. She was probably a ranked wolf with fast regeneration but I didn’t understand why she was feeble to faint afterwards. After laying her bac
Chapter Four Theoden’s POVFirst, find the little bitch of Draven that my grandfather had to force on me as a dying wish. Second, let her work for me for free, as that’s the only way for her to be close. She was an orphan, though an heiress to what the Draven had left, so I’d use that to my advantage. She must be a dumb gullible one after all.Rufus returned to my office and slid the burial poster on my table. My eyes tarried on it before I nodded. He would keep it on the gate, my grandfather had wanted that and even kept a poster printed and ready. He said he wanted his enemies to breathe a sigh of relief when they’d see that he was dead. But what they wouldn’t know would be that his death marked the beginning of all their troubles because his one and only grandson still walked their earth. “Yes? You can get out now.”Rufus raised his head. “What about the girl? You said you had hit an hour ago. Is she okay now?”That had escaped my mind. I waved dismissively. “By now she
Chapter Five: Donna’s POVI regretted stepping out for a freedom I didn’t deserve. When I woke up and found myself sprawled on the ground, shame engulfed me.I dusted my clothes for the fourth time as I hurried towards the house. How long had I been sprawled there like a fish out of water? I didn’t know. What if they had discovered my absence? I stood at the gate, holding my thumping chest. Those brown eyes I had seen. They made my stomach stir wrongly.I sneaked into the house and climbed up to my room, then fell on my face and caused a loud sound. My body didn’t move from that spot until the next thirty minutes.“What will I do now? It seems I can’t even escape from this place by myself. I need all the help I can get.” And by that, I needed someone to take me out of here.Should I just take the marriage and divorce him after I had gotten a bit of freedom? Many things could go wrong, but many things might still go right. I was divided.I rose from the ground and my eyes noticed the m
Chapter Six Donna’s POV It was only after leaving my house that I realized what exactly was happening – I had just been kidnapped. Why were there two huge men in suits seated with me in the back, while the Greek God sat in the passenger seat with the other man driving? They hadn’t said a word to me. “Excuse me, sirs,” I decided to break the silence. The men jolted like little kids, I swear to the Mood Goddess. I paused what I wanted to say and gave them side eyes. “Where are we going and who are you?” “You didn’t ask that when you had a choice to back out,” the Greek God spoke. “Would that change anything?” I knew for sure he was my saviour, so his words didn’t scare me. I forced a smile, despite the pain I felt. “I just want to know your names and why you saved me. I’m grateful you took me from there.” From the side mirror, I noticed his face straightened. “They had been maltreating you, hadn’t they?” I lowered my head and nodded. I didn’t have the time to babysit every hour of the day, and she looked like trouble.“Who do you think I am? You said you saw the letter,” I answered. She folded her arms and turned to me. Chapter Nine: ColdDonna’s POVYesterday felt like a fever dream. I woke up reciting my duties for the day, got my first beating by Chris, was handed a marriage certificate, and then whisked away from my birthplace by a Greek God.I guess my Cinderella story came full circle. My eyes were glued to the ceiling with its floral print. I exhaled. I could easily get used to this life of no chores and just existing, but to what end?Théoden never said exactly what I’d be doing for him here after I got my will and the remaining properties. A twenty-one-year-old like me couldn’t just waste away in a rich man’s house—when we weren’t even married. There was a knock on the door, and I lifted myself off the bed speedily due to habit. My balance was off, and I fell on my face. The door slammed open.“Are you o— What are you doing?” Théoden asked. He could’ve just asked if I was okay instead of stating the obvious. I was obviously tripping over my own legs on a good morning. I sat on the floor. “I’
