Chapter 7

Isabella's P.O.V

As the frigid air sent shivers down my spine, I struggled to speak while my throat ached with fear. “I'm...not a spy.” I whispered with my voice barely audible. “I'm just trying to survive.” I said.

His piercing gaze met mine, scrutinising for any glimmer of a lie and I held my breath, forcing myself to stay calm amidst the terror that surged through my veins.

A long and tense silence hung in the air as he remained motionless with his expression unreadable. Then to my immense relief, his claws retracted and the suffocating atmosphere dissipated like smoke blown away by the wind.

“My apologies.” he said with his voice laced with remorse.

“I didn't intend to frighten you. I merely sought to ascertain your identity to ensure the safety of my pack.” He said.

I nodded gulping down the lump in my throat as I attempted to steady my trembling hands.
