Chapter 20: A Failure

Daniel’s POV

The earthly fragrance flooded my nose as I kneeled on the muddy ground to collect something that may be used as proof to find my mate; the huge forest had housed us for a week already after my last visit to a pack hunting for my mate.

I left my pack for several months, believing that Beta Carl could take care of the pack without me. Every attempt to find my mate has been unsuccessful because I haven't been able to get a glimpse of her.

My wolf has argued that she is alive somewhere, somewhere that is getting increasingly difficult for me to find.

I rose from the floor and returned to where I had camped; I saw the map I had drawn and the number of Packs I had visited throughout the months; I noted I had two more packs to visit before I was finished with the quest; I clutched the paper I was holding fiercely, almost tearing it in two.
