Kavan

I sat in my office, the weight of my responsibilities as king heavy on my shoulders. Ever since I got back, I haven't had any time to take a break, as it has been from duty to duty. From attending meetings to checking on developments, and making sure that everything was falling into place, I haven’t had any time to take a breather since I got back.

I already knew they were looking for any excuse to get rid of me, and I wasn’t about to give them what they wanted.

But amidst all the duties that demanded my attention, my thoughts kept drifting back to Kazia. I couldn't help but think about her, my mate, who was still trapped in the clutches of Murad and bound to him as his branded pet.

I commanded the attention of everyone present as I stood tall in the grand hall of the Silver Crest pack. Members of our pack's council of elders, who were knowledgeable and esteemed, sat in a semicircle in front of me. Anthony and Leo were two of them who had a big say in how the pack ran its business. I knew this meeting was inevitable; they had been pressing me to find Luna and produce an heir for quite some time. "Kavan," Elder Anthony began, his voice carrying the weight of age and experience, "you have been the Lycan king of the Silver Crest pack for a few years now. It is time for you to take a Luna and secure the pack's future." I met his gaze with determination, though my heart ached for a different outcome.
