Chapter Fifty Four

I sat in my office, the grandeur of the Silver Crest pack's headquarters surrounding me. The walls were adorned with symbols of our heritage, and the scent of ancient wood and earth filled the air. But despite the comfort of familiarity, my mind was clouded with thoughts of Kazia, my mate, who was far away in the Silver Dawn pack. Her memory haunted me like a constant ache, a reminder of what I couldn't have.

As I brooded over these feelings, the door to my office creaked open, and Jason, my trusted friend and second-in-command, walked in. He was a fierce and loyal warrior, his dark hair and sharp eyes reflecting the strength within him.

"Kavan," he greeted me, "I heard rumors that the council had been pressuring you to find a Luna."

I sighed heavily, my frustrations coming to the surface. "Yes, they have," I admitted. "I didn't expect them to bring it up so soon, and it feels like they are just looking for another reason to challenge my authority."
