Chapter 48 - Jagger Bolton

Jagger POV

Calliope’s phone starts ringing just as I close the hotel room door, and her eyes widen as she looks around and opens her purse, retrieving the phone. “Shit,” she curses under her breath, and I frown, watching her run to the balcony and open the door allowing the outside noise to enter the room.

“Mama,” she says, and I watch her entire body stiffen as she listens to whatever her mother is saying on the other side. “I lost track of time; I will meet you there; I am on my way,” she says, and when her eyes meet mine as she looks at me over her shoulder, I feel like I have been stabbed right in the heart.

The way her eyes stare at me, the sorrow and desire mixed, makes me want to wrap my arms around her and never let her go. “I promise I won’t be long,” she says before she ends the call and shoves her phone into her back pocket. “I have to go; I am going for dinner at my grandmother’s house,” Calliope says, and I nod slightly.
