Callie POV“Where do you want to go for dinner?” Jagger asks, and I bite my lower lip, avoiding his gaze. I keep my eyes on my hands as I fiddle with the ring I have on my right hand. “Calliope?” Jagger says, and I let out a breath and meet his eyes. I can see the doubt in them. “I need to go home. My mom is waiting for me,” I whisper. Jagger shakes his head, pulling away from me and getting out of bed. We have spent all day in bed after I found him unconscious in bed. I sit up on the bed, pulling the blankets with me. I watch as Jagger grabs his boxer shorts from a bag on the chair. I frown as he starts getting dressed. “Jagger,” I said, and he turned around after pulling his pants up. He crosses his arms in front of his chest, and I watch his muscles move with the movement of his body. “I thought you were here to stay,” Jagger tells me, and I shake my head slightly. Is he for real right now? Does he really think I would drop everything and come running for him? I probably would i
Jagger POVLooking at my phone, I scrunch my nose and shake my head. She can’t fucking spend time with me, but she can go out with her cousin? I call bullshit. I pace around the room as I open the message one more time. “Where are you going? I’ll meet you there,” I type. I walk to the mini bar, grab a small bottle of whiskey, and empty it with one sip. I throw the bottle into the trash can and grab another one when my phone dings with another message. “I think we are going somewhere called Galerias Paris, but I don’t know where that is or what it is,” Calliope messages back, and I smile. I know exactly where she is going. It’s not my first time in Portugal, and I know about the nightlife. “I’ll meet you there; keep your phone with you,” I message back as I grab my jacket from the back of the chair and walk out of the room, stopping in the reception area right after.“Mr. Bolton, what can I do for you?” The young receptionist says, offering me a wide smile. “I need a car to take me
Callie POV“I need a drink,” I let out. My throat is dry, and my mouth feels like I have sand inside. I am not a drinker, but I can tell you the alcohol here is stronger. They don’t use measurements, and that is amazing. Free pouring should be a thing everywhere in the world. “I’ll go get a round for everyone,” Jagger says as I nod. I turn around, face Carina, and smile as she opens her arms and starts spinning. I copy my cousin as we laugh while Ben follows Jagger to the bar. I know Jagger is not comfortable here. This is not his environment at all. It isn’t mine if I am being honest. But I am having fun. I feel a set of hands land on my hips, and I turn around, smiling. “Hey,” I say as I look at my other cousin, Carlos. Carlos is Carina’s twin, but he was working and decided to meet us here. “Sis,” Carlos says, but as soon as she smiles, I feel Carlos being pulled away from me, and Jagger is slamming his fist against Carlos’s nose. “Jagger, stop,” I shout over the music, but he s
Callie POV“Don’t you dare walk away from me, Calliope,” Jagger says as his nostrils flare. He looks at Ben, who is standing behind me. I can see Jagger’s eyes move between me and Ben, and I move my arm from his grip, and his eyes meet mine again. They are darker than usual as his jar clenches while he puts his hands in his pockets. “Or what?” I ask, crossing my arms in front of my chest. I hate the way he is behaving right now. “Are you going to throw me over your shoulder and take me away?” I say, raising my eyebrows as I look at him. Jagger shakes his head slightly as he takes a deep breath, staring at me. “Don’t fucking tempt me, Calliope,” Jagger says, taking a step towards me. He is inches away from me. “Maybe we should all take a minute,” Ben says, moving slightly to stand beside me. Jagger looks at Ben, and I can see his jaw clenching once more as his nostrils flare in anger. “Maybe you should fuck off and mind your own fucking business,” Jagger says to Ben, which widens h
Callie POVWhen I open my eyes, I can’t help but smile. The smell of fresh coffee invades my nostrils, and I move to bed to feel Jagger’s side empty. I protest as I groan, opening my eyes. The sun is shining, and I widen my eyes, sitting up straight. “Shit,” I whisper, moving on the bed, trying to find my phone. “Good morning,” Jagger says as he looks at me over his newspaper, and I shake my head. Jagger frowns, putting the paper down and watching as I stand up and try to gather all my clothes that are gathered at the end of the bed in a folded pile. What the hell?“Did you fold my clothes?” I ask as Jagger keeps his eyes on me as he nods. I shake my head, slightly amused, as I put my clothes back on. “I am so dead,” I let out, but Jagger doesn’t say anything. “My mom is going to kill me. What time is it?” I ask, and Jagger looks at his watch and then at me. “Seven thirty,” he says, unaware of how screwed I am right now. “Shit, shit,” I curse under my breath, pulling my pants up. J
Jagger POV“Come on baby, we’re going to be late,” I say, and Calliope looks at me, giving me the dirtiest side-eye I have ever seen. I smile as I watch her look at her reflection in the mirror. She is wearing one of the dresses I bought for her; you know, one of the ones she looked at and said she would never wear. “Zip me up, please,” Calliope says, and I nod, taking a step closer to her and pulling the zip on the back of the dress up. My fingers brush her skin lightly while I do it, and I can see her eyes widen slightly, and I can’t help but smile. “Please, be in your bed behavior, and don’t say anything until I explain to them why you’re here,” Calliope says as we walk down the hotel corridor. I invited them for dinner at the hotel tonight. They asked me to go to their house, but I think the public environment might be better today. Public exposure means they can’t kill me. “Good evening. Reservation is under Bolton,” I say to the hostess as we reach the restaurant. She smiles
Callie POV“You did this on purpose?” Jagger asks, his face hard and his eyes wild. I don’t think he could ever have imagined I would prank him on something so serious. Yes, I was struggling to tell my parents I was with Jagger again, but knowing he would be meeting them, I decided it was time to face my own fears and tell them myself. I know I probably could’ve told Jagger about the conversation, but watching him defend me like that was adorable. I smile softly, trying to get Jagger to relax a little. His entire body is stiff, and his eyes are locked on me. “You should’ve seen your face…” I let out with laughter while both mom and dad join me. Jagger watches us as if we have three heads each. “I am sorry, baby,” I say, and Jagger shakes his head, bringing his beer glass to his lips and emptying the content. I widen my eyes, watching him, and even my dad is a little surprised by it, dare I say even impressed. “You got me, but it’s game on, baby girl,” Jagger says, and I stiffen in m
Callie POV“Call me when you land,” Mom says as she hugs me tightly. Dad shakes Jagger’s hand at the same time, and then Mom hugs Jagger. I thought he would look and feel uncomfortable, but he didn’t. He looked relaxed, as If my Mom hugging him is the most normal thing in the world. “I will,” I say before we leave the house. Jagger guides me to a black car waiting for us. The driver puts my suitcase in the trunk while Jagger opens the door for me. I wave at my parents before I get in, and I see several people watching us. People here are not used to seeing luxury cars in the street. It’s not like this is a rich area. Jagger sits next to me, closing the door, and I can’t control the single tear rolling down my cheek. Jagger clears the tear with his finger and then kisses my forehead before pulling me into his arms. The drive to the airport doesn’t take long, and as soon as the car stops the driver gets out and opens the door for us. Jagger gets out and offers me his hand and I take
