“I absolutely am” I retort, attempting to shut my door behind me.

Nate’s eyes narrowed at me, as his face filled with anger. He quickly places his bear-sized hand on the door, halting the door from closing.

He takes a step closer, challenging me. His proximity created an intimidating but intimate feeling between us. I feel my body tense up being so close to him.

Nate shot me a warning look. “Get changed, now”. His voice was quiet but demanding.

The nerve of this man caused me to automatically roll my eyes.

Conscious of Maddie sleeping only metres away, I turned to him. “Nate, get a grip. Maddie is sleeping, I’m not getting changed” and with that, I forced the door shut. Sooner or later he had to learn I wouldn’t just submit to his orders.

His eyebrows furrow at me.

“Let’s go.” I said, before practically skipping down the corridor. I should probably reign in my enthusiasm for winning the challenge between Nate and I.
