Mma’s POV

Mma Nnenna was lost in her thoughts. She and her husband were in the car on their way home after visiting her son's house. Her son had been through hell these past few days, but that was not what was on her mind.

“Mma, are you okay?” her husband’s voice brought her back to reality. “What are you thinking about?” she heard him ask. He was driving them home, but somehow he noticed her distress. She looked at the man she had been married to for over thirty years, wondering if he heard what was actually in her mind, would he think she was crazy.

“Uche,” she called her husband’s name. “Did you notice anything different with Joy?” She asked him, hoping that he had seen what she had seen.

“Joy? Yes, she is more polite and sweet now. She used to be rude, self-absorbed, and a spoiled brat,” Uche said,without miming his words.

“Don’t you think it’s strange?” Mma continued to inquire. “How can someone change and become a whole new person in just a few months?”
