Chapter Thirty-Eight

Ike’s POV

Ike drove into his compound after a long day of work. He parked his car in the garage and walked towards the front door. To his surprise, a familiar face opened the door for him, which shocked him.

“Ike!! I am so happy to see you,” the person dragged him into an embrace. Ike was still in shock. He wondered how she entered his home without him knowing. Where was Joy?

“Hey Mary,” Ike said, breaking free from her embrace. “What are you doing here? Did my wife let you in?”

“No, Mrs. Okonkwo did. She told me your wife was not at home and you too.”

Joy was not at home? Where was she? Ike wondered. He looked at his wristwatch; it was 7 pm, and Joy was not at home.

“Oh, I see,” Ike said as he pushed past Mary at the door. “I thought you were in Canada. When did you get back?”

“This morning. I could not wait to see you,” Mary replied, very excited.
