Chapter Thirty-Nine

Ada’s POV

Ada walked in on Ike with an unfamiliar woman standing in front of him, their faces touching. Upon seeing her, the woman rushed away from Ike guiltily.

“She was just talking to me,” Ike said, his voice soft, as if pleading with her.

“Why did she need to talk to you that close?” Ada snapped, dragging him further away from the woman without thinking.

“We were just having a conversation. It won’t happen again. You are my wife, Joy, and I don’t want you to ever forget that.”

“What do you mean by that? Yet you were about to kiss another woman,” Ada said angrily. She couldn’t believe Ike was trying to gaslight her into thinking she saw wrong. Who the hell was the woman he was with? She had no clue who she might be.

“Calm down, Joy. He is telling the truth,” the woman told her.

“Shut up! Who the hell are you?” Ada screamed at her.
