Dedication

Thank you for being the book that gave me a break from my other reality for a while

For being the first book I wrote that was standalone, as well as one an done

While I’m always sad to see the characters stories end

There will always be more stories to come

And another GIANT thank  you to my best friend Mike

For listening to my constant back and forth, once again

For supporting me when I said I wanted to write something new

For always having my back, even when I change the ending three times

For simply being there

Thank you

Chapter 1

I kept my eyes locked on a specific man from across the bar. He was gorgeous with his chocolate brown hair, deep green eyes, a chiseled jawline, and a smile to die for. He was built like the rest of the Vampires, large and muscular. He towered over me and had to be over 6 foot tall at least.

He was wearing a nice three piece suit, and his accent color matched the crimson adorning my nails. He had been drinking heavily most of the night. This was partially thanks to yours truly, who kept ordering him shot after shot on his own tab. We locked eyes after what felt like hours and I winked at him, causing him to make his way over to me.

Once he reached me he immediately attempted to touch me. I grabbed his hand midair, stopping him before he could. I smiled to myself as his naughty thoughts infiltrated my mind, I already had him. "Not here." I purred with a sly smile.

"Go pay your tab, and let's get out of here." I murmured into his ear, while taking his earlobe in my mouth softly. He suppressed a groan and reluctantly wandered back over to the bar, paying his tab.

He made his way back to me and I got up and walked towards the door, leading him from the bar outside to my obsidian black Chiron Noire. "This is your car? Wow." He mumbled. Bugatti was always my favorite car brand. "I wouldn't roll in anything less." I purred, and shot him another wink.

I clicked the key and the lambo doors flung open allowing us inside. This mother fucker better not throw up in my car, I thought, as he stumbled into his seat. I clicked the key again to close the doors and pressed the push to start, listening to the purr of the horses under the hood.

"What's your address?" I asked him, hoping he wouldn't question me. I was here from out of town anyways, a hotel would be too conspicuous. "1487 carriage drive." He replied. "Jarvis, take me to 1487 carriage drive." I commanded my car, who obliged, as the GPS popped up on my screen leading us in the direction needed. Luckily his house wasn't that far.

We arrived shortly and I was impressed, his home was a beautiful Victorian style mansion adorned in gray and black shades. I set my keys in the tray on the side table in his entryway, and we made our way upstairs into his bedroom.

I watched as my prey sauntered over towards me after locking his bedroom door with an audible click. I withheld a shudder when I saw the glow of his eyes that were now blood red shining in the low light. Vampire’s eyes always glowed in the dark, and it was unnerving if we are being honest.

He closed the gap between us with unnatural speed, pulling me into his arms and forcing me down on the bed. I briefly let my hand wander to my thigh, feeling that my silver knife was still in its rightful place and that eased my mind some.

I could hear his thoughts once again, and right now the various ways he planned to ravage my body for the rest of the night were the only things on his mind. Vampires were mainly driven by two things, lust and bloodlust.

Both of which I could freely give, right before I drove my blade straight into their cold black hearts.

I wrapped my hand around the Vampire's neck, pulling him closer to me. “I want you to drink from me.” I moaned out in a soft, but aroused voice. I was extremely good at faking arousal, in fact I hated these filthy blood suckers. The thought of touching one, or even worse, one touching me, made my skin crawl.

But money is money, and revenge is revenge.

The Vampire growled deeply while rubbing his fangs on my neck in the spot he was about to sink them in. “Wait, there’s a better position for this.” I said softly, while pushing him so he was sitting up with his back against the headboard.

Everyone knew Vampires loved to feed when Humans were on their lap, it gave them a direct line to the main vein in our necks. It was less painful for the Human too.

I ignored his erection throbbing underneath my core as I took my place on his lap. He smashed his lips into mine hungrily, while his hands wrapped in my hair and trailed over my upper body.

I moaned against his lips, practically begging for him to sink his fangs into my neck. Once he released his lips from mine, he softly trailed kisses onto my jaw and down to my neck. “You’re so fucking beautiful.” He purred against the sweet spot in my neck.

Unbeknownst to him those words would be the last words he would ever fucking say. I smirked silently to myself because I had him exactly where I wanted him.

I kept one arm around his neck pulling us closer while the other firmly grasped my silver knife on my thigh, hidden underneath a sheath I had gotten for my birthday when I was younger.

“Here, drink.” I moaned out while moving my hair off to the side so he could get a better shot. I was hoping to sound as flustered as I knew he was feeling. The second I felt his fangs pierce my skin, I pulled my knife out and drove it straight through his heart.

I pulled away from him, ensuring that I kept both hands on the handle of my blade as I looked straight into his eyes. I wanted my face to be the last thing he saw before he died.

“Filthy fucking leech.” I spat, then twisted the knife to ensure that I didn’t miss. I watched the blood pouring from the blood suckers chest, coating his lap and my thighs long with it. I could feel the warmth of his blood covering my hands and knife as I pushed it further into his chest cavity.

The light had gone out in his eyes already, but I had to be sure. “Such a shame, you were a gorgeous one.” I said with a smirk, as I pulled my knife from his chest and climbed off his dead body.

My mind was numb as I walked over to his bathroom to clean up, leaving a trail of blood dripping from my thighs as I went.

I carefully took off the dress I was wearing and turned the cold water on in the sink. Not that it mattered, it was black anyways, but I wanted to at least attempt to get the blood out. I loved this dress.

I carefully ran the dress under the cold water until it ran clear signaling that all the blood was washed out. Then I wrung it out and hung it on the back of the door to dry. I jumped in the shower and turned on the hot water, letting it run down my face.

I looked at my feet, as the blood washed off me and swirled down the drain in a mess of crimson. I took note that the blood matched the paint on my toe nails and that small fact made me smile.

“148.” I said out loud, as if it would solidify the kill. I smiled to myself, as I washed up, using the Vampire’s shampoo and conditioner which smelled surprisingly good. Then I used his body wash and proceeded to get out of the shower, drying off.

I rummaged through the bathroom cabinet until I found a bandage, I had to stop the bleeding in my neck. Luckily he didn't penetrate clear down to my vein, but it was still going to leave a mark. One that I would wear proudly.

Next I found a hair dryer, and plugged it in. My hair was obsidian black and it was long, below my ass. After a kill, I always wore it straight down to commemorate my success.

I turned the blowdryer to my dress once my hair was dry, hoping that I could at least dry it a little as I had to put it back on. After about 20 minutes I decided it was as good as it was going to get. No need to linger longer than I already have.

I threw the dress back on and it was just damp. Perfect. I rinsed my knife off and put it back in its sheath, buckling it back around my thigh. I walked out and over to the Vampire whose lifeless body was still bleeding out onto the bed.

He was wearing a gold chain with a gold ring dangling off the end. I unclasped it from his neck and threw it in the small pocket on my knife sheath, and then looked down at my hand.

My left ring finger brandished an obsidian stone wrapped in silver (I had it recasted from stainless steel). I had taken it from my first Vampire kill. A momento if you will, and I never took it off as a reminder of who I was, and what I was fighting for.

I had to get it resized of course, but that was no big deal. There was a jeweler in The Academy that wouldn't ask questions. I kissed the ring. “For you mom.” I said out loud. Then I grabbed my heels, and headed out the door and down to the foyer area.

The Vampire’s maids were working feverishly to keep the enormous place clean and I winked at them as I passed by. No doubt they would find out what I had done soon if they didn’t already know.

But what did I care? For all intents and purposes, I didn't exist. My DNA would never match any living person, my facial recognition wouldn't even connect to anyone.

Another perk of my ties with The Academy, I was a ghost.

I’m Human by all means. But I'm an enhanced Human, thanks to The Academy, where I grew up and trained. My eyes are obsidian black matching my hair, another gift from The Academy after my enhancement.

I’m about five foot six inches, and I have an athletic build. I watch what I eat, and I work out daily. Oh, and did I mention that I can read your thoughts as long as we have skin contact?

That was the gift The Academy gave me. Each of us has a different gift, and they come at random. We do not get to choose what we get.

I grew up in The Academy. My mother grew up here, and her mother before her, and so on so forth.

I was determined to break the mould, become the first of our line not to follow in their footsteps. Honestly when I was young the thought of killing, let alone a person, Vampire or not, made me sick to my stomach.

But when a Vampire killed my mother, my only family that I had ever known, back when I was 12 years old... I knew I had to avenge her death. Number 148 mom, number 148 and I will never stop.

I will kill every last one of these blood sucking leeches.

My name is Snow, I'm 28 years old, and I’m a Vampire Hunter.

Chapter 2I grabbed my keys from the dish on the entry table and headed out to my Bugatti. I clicked the unlock button and my drivers side lambo door flung open, allowing me to step inside and take a seat before closing. I set the keys down in the console and pressed my push to start, listening to the purring of those horses again. That was one of my favorite sounds. "Jarvis, call Shadow." I commanded, he obliged when the 20 inch digital display on the dash lit up. Seconds later a male appeared on the screen. “Checkmate.” I said, while holding up the chain with the ring attached to it in front of the camera so he could see. “Well done, Snow. You've outdone yourself. Your deposit will be in your bank by morning.” He said, and then he ended the call. Good, this was a $500,000 hit. He was somewhat of a high roller I guess. I shrugged it off. “Jarvis, navigate me to the nearest Ac

Chapter 3"Good morning. It's 10:30am. The weather in Bellefonte is 83 degrees with scattered clouds. All historical museums and businesses are now open. Shall I ready your car, ma’m?" Jarvis’s chipper voice rang out, jarring me from my luckily dreamless sleep. “No Jarvis, I will have the valet boy grab it. Thank you.” I mumbled, while sitting up and rubbing the sleep from my eyes. We had a long drive ahead, and I wasn’t really ready for it. Maine was a few states away and I wasn’t looking forward to the multi day drive I was about to endure. I know it was only 10 hours away but I planned to stop in between so it was going to take a bit. I got out of bed and wandered to the closet, pulling out a black dress that was eerily similar to the one I was wearing last night, which sat crumpled on the floor still. No need to worry, I had another in my closet at any given time. I

Chapter 4I have no idea how long it had been that we had been driving, but Jarvis informed me that we were low on gas and needed to fuel up. So we pulled into the closest Maverik. I started the fuel and then walked inside to grab something to eat. Gas station food wasn’t that healthy, but luckily Maverik had salads and other relatively healthy options. I opted for some boiled eggs, a cobb salad and some string cheese. On the way out I noticed a Vasa gym across the street. “Jarvis, it’s time for a pit stop, take me to that Vasa right there.” I said. “As you wish ma’am.” He replied, and we drove over there. I got out of my car and walked to my trunk, clicking the button on my keys to open it. I had a duffel bag full of clothes and shoes, accessories, just things I may need when I can't get to The Academy. I had a pair of yoga high waisted shorts and a sports bra, both black of course. I grabbed those and a pair of socks with my running shoes. I placed them into a smaller bag I had in t

Chapter 5He quickly paid for lunch, how considerate of him. He was obviously in a hurry to attempt to murder me. I rolled my eyes to myself as we walked out of the restaurant, and he started walking towards his car. “Hey, why don't you let me drive?” I asked. He looked at me with a confused look on his face, as if I had said something completely foreign to him. In all reality I just threw a wrench in his plan. I’m sure he had the perfect place to take me, but I think the place I have planned is better. “I know of a cool place close to here that we can go to. I saw it on the map on the way here. I will bring you back when we are done." I said, with a wink. He sucked in a breath and nodded, following me to the back of the building. "Jarvis, bring the car to my location." I said. "Yes ma'am." Jarvis replied and I could hear my car start from across the parking lot. The sound of those horses gave me goosebumps. I had always loved sports cars, ever since I was a kid. My car pulled up and

Chapter 6I shot up from my sleep, covered in a thin layer of sweat. “Ma’am, your heart rate is elevated, are you ok?” Jarvis purred through the speakers in my car. Just the sound of his voice calmed me down, it helped me come back to reality. “Yes Jarvis, thank you.” I said, and adjusted my seat so I was sitting up. It was dark and we were on a thin stretch of road with no other traffic. I rubbed my hands on my face for a moment trying to shake the feeling of that leeches fangs inside my neck. I ran my fingers across the area where the bandage was from my kill earlier. I was surprised that the leech I just killed hadn't asked about it. I guess it was a little lower on my neck, but it was definitely visible. He must have thought it was rude to ask and didn't bother. How kind of him, ha. I thought, with a snort. I peeled the bandage off and pulled my rearview mirror down to look at the mark. It actually wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Once I get to The Academy I could use their

He pulled up and my driver's side lambo door opened. There was no way I was getting in my car covered in blood and still bleeding. Do you know how hard it is to get blood out of my upholstery? Yea, not doing that again. I clicked the trunk button on my keys and walked back to the trunk, setting my guns and knife on top of my smaller gym bag. I opened my duffel bag and pulled out a small medical kit. I grabbed some gauze and pressed it on my wound, applying pressure for a bit until the bleeding calmed down. Then I got some salve that The Academy provided and put it on the bite mark, covering it with a clean set of gauze and using an ace bandage to wrap it on my shoulder. Then I pulled out another black dress, carefully setting it aside so it didn’t

  • The Hunter   Chapter 8

Chapter 8I headed inside and noted that this Academy was very similar to the one in Pennsylvania decor wise, but it was much larger. There were two front desks on this one, and even at this early morning hour there were other hunters checking in. I knew Maine was a contract hotspot but I had never ventured this far before. I never had the opportunity or really needed to until now. I walked up and got in line at the far right front desk, waiting to check in. Someone walking by me ended up brushing against my arm, but luckily I still had my gloves on from earlier, so I didn’t get any reads on his mind. Honestly it was a curse more than a gift. Always knowing what was on people's minds was exhausting. As much as I loved it, and used it to my advantage when Hunting, I wish I could turn it on and off at will. It would be so nice to just have skin contact with someone and be completely in the dark about what they were thinking. My mind was racing and I didn’t even realize it was my turn ne

Chapter 9If I thought I turned heads on a normal basis, you should have seen the neck breaking that was going on right now as I walked through the halls of The Academy. It was a lot busier than when I originally arrived and I definitely was causing a scene. Good, my outfit was having the intended effect. I needed it too so I could ensure my kills tonight. The better I looked, the easier it would be to seduce those twins. "Jarvis, bring the car around." I said knowing full well that I would need the keys from the valet still. I walked out the doors and over to the valet who was a young boy with dark brown hair and eager eyes. "Snow, here, let me get your car." He said, as he went into the booth to grab my keys. "I just need the keys, kid." I said, as my car pulled up and stopped right in front of us. I winked at the kid whose jaw was sitting on the floor, and then pressed the button to open my lambo door, stepping inside. “Jarvis, take me to the Vanderwood ball.” I said. “Yes Ma’am.”

Epilogue(Snow)Damien took my hand in his as we locked eyes. “Are you ready?” He asked. I nodded then looked back at my mother who smiled at me. Today was our funeral, and against my wishes Damien had sweet talked me into attending. Not that we could see the whole thing, but what kind of funeral would it be if we weren't there at least for a moment? That argument to me seemed silly, but Damien was gung ho about it. We tuned into the funeral proceedings. I was surprised to see Jericho leading them. It had only been a week since we had passed on and I knew he was still a new Vampire. The amount of control he was showing around a room full of potential food, was impressive. I wanted to hug my friend and tell him how proud of him I was for his progress. I turned my head to check out the room from Jericho’s view. That’s when my mother gasped out loud. I almost copied her when I saw the sheer amount of people who were in attendance. Every single seat in the entire place was filled. There

I walked over to Max’s body and pulled Snow’s knife from Max’s chest. I walked over to Jericho while Xavier grieved over my gifted mate. “Do not feed from him, he needs to stay alive. Chapter 78Xavier ignored us both and kept trying to find a way around the barrier. It was no use, I couldn’t even penetrate it. I could still feel Snow, but it was pointless trying to get inside. I sent Xavier home after a few hours and just kept coaching Jericho down, and helping him to understand his Vampire tendencies. He was going to struggle with this, just like I did. Which was normal. Snow, on the other hand, was a unicorn. She barely struggled and was able to keep her composure easily. It was her powers that she struggled with and I knew this. I wanted to know what the hell Max was doing to her to cause me to not be able to feel the gifted mate bond anymore. Jericho needed sleep and even though I didn't plan to sleep, I knew I needed to as well, otherwise tomorrow was going to be a lot harder. It was just too hard to sleep with my gifted mate in danger. I started making preparations immediately after her departure. “Jericho, you still here?” I called out from the hallway. He poked his head out of his room a few doors down. “What’s up boss?” He said. “It’s time.” I replied, and I watched him stiffen and pull his head back into the doorway, coming out a second later without his equipment. He walked up to me and nodded. ‘I’m ready.” He said. I ushered him into my room and over to my desk while I rifled through papers until I found the will. Chapter 76I looked over at my mom with wide eyes. “See, I told you.” She said with a laugh. I smiled, this place was so strange. I looked out the window as we drove. Everything looked the same as before I died. The town was the same, I was still in Maine, still close to Damien. It baffled me that I hadn’t ended up somewhere else. “How does it decide where you end up? Like why am I here, in Maine still? And not home in Nevada?” I asked. My mother shrugged. “I guess it knows where your unfinished business is.” She said. My heart sank as we pulled into the resort that Max was staying at. I knew exactly where Damien was, and I wasn’t sure if I was ready to walk up there and see him like this. I knew full well that he had found my body, and he would be absolutely distraught. My mother had always been a mind reader, I swear. “This is where you were killed?” She said, as if she knew exactly what I was thinking. I nodded. “I killed myself on accident, actually. Its stupid, but I had to in or

Chapter 75I found myself in the front foyer of The Academy, covered in someone else’s blood. I briefly recalled the events that I believe led me here, but they were a blur. My heart ached at the loss of my fake life. It was just a physical pain, I knew that what I had in the real world was better, much better than anything Max could have given me, but my mind was still jumbled from his hallucination. My thoughts then strayed to Damien. I was relieved that he would be safe in my real life. No matter what this place is, no matter what happened to me, he would be safe now with Max dead. That, I was sure of. My thoughts vanquished when I snapped back to reality, or whatever this was. I was in line behind a few others. These were Hunters I recognized, friends and foes. People I had grown up with, people I had spent my life working with. No one was talking, and everyone looked as beat up as I did. The line slowly moved but I couldn’t hear anything that was being said at the front desk. It

I decided to play hard to get, switch things up a little. I snaked out of his grasp and took off running across the room.
