The Flames of The Phoenix

Katherine’s POV

“Xander, you know the risks of us raising our child here, I do not want to put the pack, or anyone to be in danger. I love you and our pack too much to put you all in danger by raising our child here, please.” I pleaded, scared that they would come after us while our guard was down.

"Honey, know this I love you and this child too much to let either of go so please don't say such things please."

I knew there was no use in persuading him to let me go because I knew our child was special and he loved me too much to let either of us go but I wanted to protect her older brother, her father, and the rest of the pack.

I thought about it maybe, we could protect them in the pack but also didn't want to take the risk of leaving and being caught with less security so I'm going to stay for the safety of our baby girl.

"Okay love, I will stay because maybe we could make it out who knows."

My mate had the biggest grin on his face. He picked up our baby girl and started dancing happy that I decided to stay. It made me laugh at how happy he was.

Maybe we could all be safe who knows, but what I know is that no matter what I would go great to protect those I love especially my mate and our children. I just hope our baby Samantha will be able to overcome any obstacle coming at her, and I also hope her big brother Tristan will protect her even to the ends of the Earth, but only time will tell.

"Alpha, Luna, rogues have crossed the borderline and are heading to the pack house." Beta Mike rushed in? "Why didn't anyone mind link us or ring the alarm," Xander said sounding pissed. "The mind link wasn't working and someone hacked into the alarm system for it not to work, so I sent a few warriors to warn everyone, bring the women who couldn't fight and the children to the safe house while I came to get you."

"All of this fighting is getting us nowhere, for now, we have to get those who can't fight to safety while fighting off the rogues so please could we end this bicker here right now? Please for the sake of the pack, lives are in danger please." I yelled having enough of putting up with something that wasn't the main concern

Mike and Xander looked at me stunned, for I never shouted or even raised my voice at anyone.

Then Xander looks at me then puts on a serious face meaning he means business.

"Okay, Beta lead the way." We followed Mike half through the house before Xander told me "Kath, I know you want to fight but I can't let you go out there knowing I might lose you, please. If not for me then do it for our kids, they need their mom, please." I know what he was saying made sense but I had to help, but then I thought about our children, especially our daughter, and I knew I had to protect them.

"Okay for our children I will stay in the safe house, but at the first sign of struggle I will go and try to help," I told him. "Not what I was looking for but better than nothing." My husband joked.

"Now go, please. I love you, Luna Katherine."

"And I love you too Alpha Xander. See you soon."

After saying a few words, we parted ways, I went to the safe house with our children while Xander went to fight off the rogues.

Alpha Xander's POV

When I stepped out of the house there was a bloody mess (I mean literally). There were bodies everywhere, most were rogues but a few were some of our warriors.

While I was looking around, I saw a rogue fighting one of our youngest warriors, I went to fight off the rogue but he still managed to bite off a chunk of the warrior's stomach.

While I was fighting him, I failed to notice another rogue sneaking up on me. When I finally noticed, it was too late, the rogue attacked me. I had to fight off two rogues, which was hard because I was already hurt from the first. The only thing I could do was to pray to the Moon Goddess and hope to make it out alive.

Katherine's POV

I was with the women and children fighting off any rogue who made it this far. While fighting off a rogue, I noticed that my mate's guard was down and I felt that he was in danger. When I felt that I knew I had to get there and help him and the rest of the warriors. Secretly, I cast a protection spell and slipped out of the safe house. When I arrived there, I saw bodies everywhere. I needed to find my mate and see if everything was alright.

When I found my mate, I saw he was trapped. I went and started using a few spells to kill off a few of the rogues. When my mate saw me, he said through the mind link, "I am angry at the fact that you came, but I am happy that you are here.

We continued to fight off the rogues when fewer and fewer came at us we knew we were winning, that was until their leader came. He was in wolf form, with a huge ugly scar on one of his eyes. He shifted into human form with all of his clothes, which shouldn't be possible.

Xander and I took a protective stance in front of the hurt warriors, worried about what the leader could do, but we were ready to take him down.

We were about to attack when he just laughed, we all looked confused as the leader of the rogues laughed like this was the funniest thing he had seen in his life.

"Who are you?" Xander asked, "Devon, Alpha King and leader of all rogues, and you must be Alpha Smith of the Golden Moon Pack." Answered their leader A.K.A Devon.

"You thought that you could beat me, well then you are in for a surprise? This was all just to show you that I will do anything to get what I want, that means even killing my pack. You, I want the child. I will leave you until her 16th birthday to give me the child, or you will suffer much, much worse than this. Be warned. Retreat." With saying that, the rogues left our territory.

While the rogues left, we helped those who were hurt. I knew that Devon was going to come back. I wanted to leave for the safety of everyone, but I knew, with rogues working for Devon there was no safe place to go, so I was going to stay, even though knowing Devon would be back in 16 years.

"Kath, what are you thinking of?" Xander asked me as we entered our room. "Oh nothing, just worrying about the safety of the pack. I hope this Devon guy doesn't try anything to harm the pack." It wasn't a lie, I just wanted the pack to be safe, even if that meant sacrificing my life just so my mate, children, and the pack get to live peacefully.

"Don't worry honey, we will find a way to get rid of this Devon, just be positive, ok?" I just nodded my head, too deep in thought of what the future will hold for us. I just hope everything will be okay, I just hope for it.
