"I…" As soon as I spoke, I realized my throat felt as dry as sandpaper.

Chandler heard this and woke up. He rubbed his forehead before looking at me joyfully. "You're finally awake, Carrie!"

"Yeah."

Then, he fed me water and food. He cared for me better than anyone else could have.

Once I was settled, he parted his lips, looking like he'd thought about something for a long time. He said, "Lincoln came to look for you when you were unconscious. He said he regretted everything and wanted to pursue you, but I kicked him out."

I said, "You did the right thing. I'll never go back to what I've left behind, especially since he's such a jerk. He's lost the right to have anything to do with me, so he should just get lost."

Chandler looked happy to hear that. "I also saw from yesterday's news that Faust Group's shareholders are clamoring about withdrawing their investments due to the scandal the company is embroiled in. I'm guessing Lincoln is stressing out about that."

"He deserves it!"
