I ignored Lincoln, sidestepping him and Suzanne. I continued forward but stopped to look at him as I brushed past him. "If you still have a sense of shame, hurry up and get the new divorce agreement drafted. Send it to me soon, or face my wrath. Don't blame me for going all out and making life hard for you both!"

"Are you serious about the divorce, Carissa?"

In the past, Lincoln had always been the one asking for a divorce, while the original Carissa refused. Now, the tables were turned—I was urging him for a divorce. He was starting to think something was wrong with the world.

"What do you think?" I retorted coldly.

Then, I left. I didn't notice that the results of my medical checkup had fallen to the floor. It verified the diagnosis that I had bone cancer.

"Are you ill, Carissa?" Lincoln looked at the results.

I turned back to see a hint of redness in his eyes. There even seemed to be a rare note of panic.

In the novel, the original Carissa would never have dared to posit herself as Lincoln's equal whenever he was at home. She wouldn't dare sit if he was standing, and when he sat, she would stand humbly by his side, awaiting his instructions. She would be at his beck and call."Are you that desperate to get divorced?" Lincoln didn't look too happy. Perhaps it was because he couldn't stand the difference between my and the original Carissa's behaviors.I said indifferently, "I'm worried on Suzanne's child's behalf. You don't want it to be illegitimate when it's born, right?"The divorce was only the first step. I had more things planned for him.He nodded. There was a look in his eyes that I couldn't quite read—was it sorrow? Remorse? Guilt?"Fine, then. This is the new agreement. Take a look." He pulled out the agreement from his briefcase and pushed it toward me.I reached for it excitedly, but he held it down firmly. I looked at him and tried to aggravate him. "What? Are you alre

I yawned. Before leaving the villa yesterday, I'd had Carissa's diary posted to Lincoln's office. Telling him the truth and making him realize he'd been in love with the wrong person this whole time wasn't too cruel, right? I couldn't let Carissa suffer everything alone and in silence.I said indifferently, "Yeah, but I regret everything now. I was kind enough to do a blood transfusion to save you, but I would've been better giving my blood to a dog. At least it would've barked at me out of loyalty. You? Ha!""I always thought Suzanne was the one who saved me. She knew all the details of what had happened! I was in love with the wrong person. I shouldn't have treated you like that." Lincoln looked utterly remorseful."It's because she secretly read my diary. I didn't bother with her in the past, and I don't care now that we're divorced. There's no need for me to keep things under wraps anymore. Right! Now that you know the truth, you can leave." I made to shut the door."Carrie,

"Thanks for helping me, Chandler. If not for that, I doubt those media outlets would've dared to spill the beans on Faust Group," I said."I'll help you as long as it's what you want. There's no need to thank me." Chandler looked at me tenderly.I would be lying if I said I wasn't moved. Then, I said, "Oh, right. Before you came here, did you drop by to see how Lincoln was doing?"I wasn't asking because I cared about Lincoln, of course."He saw the news and almost had an aneurysm. You know heart problems are the hardest to fix, right? He should be in the hospital for a long time." Chandler looked almost gleeful as he spoke. Then, his expression turned serious as he looked at me. "You don't need to feel guilty or go easy on him, Carrie. He owes you this.""I know."…We left the hotel, and Chandler went to get his car. I stood atop the steps and watched as a disheveled woman approached me from the corner. I had to squint at her for a while to realize she was Suzanne. Her ha

"Help! Someone tried to murder me!" Suzanne clutched her bloody stomach and gripped my hand tightly as she screamed.I scoffed. She called me ruthless, but she was the one who embodied the word. I couldn't believe she was so insane that she'd actually stabbed herself."You'd better stay away from Carrie, you madwoman! Don't blame me for getting nasty if you don't!" Suddenly, a tall figure appeared and kicked Suzanne away, shielding me behind him.It was Chandler. Lincoln had always showed up at these junctures, but Suzanne was the one he shielded. This time, the situation was different.I was the one being protected, but only because Chandler was the one who stood before me. How could I describe the feeling? • The Female Lead's Awakening   Chapter 1

I opened and shut my eyes. Then, I did it again. And again.I stared at the luxurious and sprawling manor before me, which one would only expect to see in TV shows or visualize when reading novels. Only then did I believe I'd transmigrated into a novel!"I can't believe you sent someone to go after Suzanne again, Carissa Winton! You've held the position of Mrs. Faust for too long!" a man's furious voice rang out behind me. I turned to see a handsome man slap a document before me. It was a divorce agreement.Carissa Winton? Suzanne? Mrs. Faust? Weren't those the important characters in a popular stereotypical melodramatic romance novel I'd just read? So, I'd transmigrated into the body of Carissa Winton, the poor female lead of the novel. She'd aborted three children for the male lead, Lincoln Faust's sake, and was dying of bone cancer."Let's divorce, Carissa!" Lincoln said icily.I was only taken aback for a second. Then, I snorted disdainfully. "Let's do it, then. It's not li

Lincoln stormed off, slamming the door behind him. I sneered, thinking that this was nothing in comparison with what he'd done to the original Carissa.I wasn't happy for too long, though. I suddenly felt a surge of warmth in my nose, and it smelled metallic. I hurriedly wiped my nose with some tissue. I only realized there was blood all over it when I looked at it.I'd almost forgotten that Carissa had just been diagnosed with bone cancer. She only had ten months to live, but she'd actually thought about sleeping with Lincoln once more so she could fall pregnant. Then, she would leave and have the child be the final witness to their marriage. What a fool. I wanted to tell Carissa that someone like Lincoln wasn't worth any of that. The forceful tone I'd taken with him earlier was the opposite of Carissa, who obeyed his every command. We were polar opposites, yet Lincoln hadn't noticed anything different. It was clear that Carissa meant nothing to him. He wasn't worthy of her lo

Based on my experience, I knew the male lead would show up at this point. He would stand up for the female side character and reprimand the female lead.Sure enough, I saw Lincoln hurry toward us, his expression anxious. I narrowed my eyes at Suzanne. So, she wanted to frame me for hurting her when I hadn't even touched her? I would make her wish come true, then.I walked down the steps and stomped on her hand, grinding the pointy tip of my heel into her palm. Suzanne immediately howled in pain, and her tears flowed. Her pain was much more genuine now compared to earlier."Honestly, you knew I wasn't someone to be trifled with and that I would get physical, yet you still served yourself on a silver platter so I could hit you. Could you be more pathetic?" I felt dissatisfied despite saying that. So, I slapped Suzanne twice as a way of venting the original Carissa's anger!"What the hell are you doing, Carissa? How dare you hit Suzy!" Lincoln darted toward Suzanne, who was weepin
