I knocked on Leslie's door, feeling a mix of emotions. I had chosen her as my mate, despite knowing that Lola was the one destined for me. But there was something about Leslie that drew me in, something that made me want to be with her.

The door opened, and Leslie stood before me, her eyes flashing with anger. "What do you want, Israel?" she spat.

I took a deep breath. "I want to talk to you about what happened earlier," I said, my voice calm. "I know I hurt you, and for that, I'm sorry."

Leslie crossed her arms, her expression unyielding. "You think a simple apology will fix everything?" she asked, her voice dripping with skepticism.

I shook my head. "No, I don't. But I want to explain why I did what I did. I chose you, Leslie, because I feel a connection with you that I don't feel with Lola. I know it's not traditional, but I couldn't help how I feel."

Leslie raised an eyebrow. "And what about Lola? You just going to ignore the fact that she's your destined mate?"
