Mima's POV

I watched her turn the corner and I did too.

“Ria, stop. Now!” I yelled at her but she doesn't stop. Instead. She increased her speed. She ran out of the dungeons Andi's almost out when I'm close and grab her hair in my hands and pulling her back.

She stumbled backwards falling on to me as we both fell down the stairs.

“Fuck.” I quickly caught my footing and stabilised myself, pulling her towards me and stoping our fall.

“Well, well, well. Look who it is.” I said, staring down at her while trying to catch my breath.

“I am not saying anything.” She blurted out, trying to escape from the strong grip that I had her in.

“We'll see about that.” I spat and she turned her face away from mine.

“Where is Kian?” I asked her and I noticednher expression shifting as her eyes glazes over.

Is she pulling an act in front of me?

She refused to answer my question as she just stood there with sad eyes and not bothering to struggle anymore against my hold.

What has gotten into her?

They're in every sector and so far, we caught them in the most important sectors in our pack. The dining room was alive with laughter, the clinking of plates, and the faint melody of my mother humming as she set down another dish. The table was laid out perfectly, just like she always did, even for small family dinners. Except this one wasn’t a small family dinner, It was my birthday.“Nineteen,” my father said, his deep voice with a mix of pride as he poured himself a glass of wine. “Hard to believe you’re not a pup anymore.”“I haven’t been a pup for years, dad,” I replied, grinning at him as I reached for another slice of cake.“You’ll always be my pup,” he said, ruffling my hair before taking a seat at the head of the table.I rolled my eyes at him, stuffing my face with cake. Beside me, my brother, Damon stuffed his face with a cinnamon roll, ignoring the amused look my mother shot him. “If you’re going to eat like that,” my mother teased, “you might as well shift into your wolf. At least then you’d have an excuse.”Damon swallowed with a grin “The food’s too good, mum.

The dungeon was suffocating, a dark lightless pit that reeked of decay, despair and rotting flesh. Bodies littered the cramped cells, slumped against the cold stone walls. The other members of my pack were packed into one cell. I was alone in another. I looked across the hall and spotted my best friend. Her head was resting on the wall. Her once striking brown eyes were dull, rimmed with red from several hours of crying. She had lost her mate in the attack. She must be really hurt. She hadn't spoken since we were thrown into this hellhole. No one had. All we had witnessed was too great for words. My stomach churned from starvation and and my wrist felt raw from the silver laced iron chains that chained me to the wall. I closed my eyes letting the silence of the cell fill my ears but all I saw were my family's dead bodies. The sound of my mother's screams, the look in my brother's eyes and the sound of the snap of his neck. I pressed my hands on my face trying to block the images and

Zahra, stood up watching the exchange between us. “You… you are my mate.” He whispered. He seemed mesmerised by me being there. He stretched out his hand and stroked my cheek. I leaned in to his touch. The whole clearing was silent and nobody made a sound.I felt I had gotten something good when all of a sudden, he retracted his had like he had been burnt by my skin.“You, you cannot be my mate” his face twisted in disgust. What?“You are a slave, I cannot be matted to a slave and a conquered pack. I am an Alpha, I deserve better than a weakling” he sneered.“Al-pha?” I said in confusion. He is the alpha of this pack? The pack that raided and destroyed my home? The pack that killed and is killing the last of my people? This pack?I stumbled back unable to form words.“This is unacceptable. I, Dylan, Alpha of the Blood stone pack, reject you, Mima as m

I walked out of the bathroom and into the room, draping the towel I found over my body. The food on the bedside table had gone cold but I had no choice but to shove it down my throat. If I was going to survive here, I needed all the energy I could get. I couldn't stop thinking about my family and their deaths again. I knelt by my bed as I decided to pray to the moon goddess for their souls and that they rest in peace. I was just about to start my prayers when my room door burst open and an angry Luna stormed in. “Well, well, well. Look at a little miss seductive ex-mate praying to the goddess.” She scorned.I didn't understand what I must have done to get her angry. Before I could open my mouth to talk, she grabbed me by the ponytail I had thrown my hair into and pulled me backwards. My scalp stung from the pull.“You bitch, you think you can take my mate away from me. I, Stephanie, future Luna of this pack would never allow that” Stephanie, so that's her name and what is she goin

I promised myself not to cry in front of all these people. I held it in and turned to him.“Respectfully Alpha, you were the one that touched me inappropriately, leading to me being startled. I didn't intentionally want to soil your expensive clothes.”He stared at me, shocked that I exposed him. “I— I did no such thing. What do you mean by touching you inappropriately? You… you are making up baseless accusations with zero to no evidence that I did that” I stumbled over his words trying to clear his name. He looked over at the other guests, trying to garner their favour but knowing who he really was, none of them stood up to defend him. But Stephanie spoke up.“I believe you, Alpha Rodrick. I mean, why would a reputable man like you want to touch filthy trash like her? She must be lying, giving an excuse for how she acted. She is such a silly fool.” She walked towards us and I couldn't help but cower in fear as she got closer.“I will make sure to teach her a lesson after our meal”

  • The Chosen One   Chapter 6: A flicker of hope

The metallic tang of blood filled my nostrils as I woke to the faintest light filtering through the cracks in the walls. My body screamed in protest as I tried to move, every muscle burning like fire. The dried blood and sweat glued my torn clothes to my skin, making every small shift unbearable.A soft scuffling sound caught my attention. At first, I thought it was rats, but then I noticed a shadow moving along the wall close to the door. I hadn't heard anybody come in. Someone was here. My heart thudded in my chest, fear and desperation flooded my chest. Where they are here to beat me up again. "Who's there?" My voice came out hoarse and small, barely above a whisper. The shadow hesitated before stepping closer. It was Julia, the head maid. Her face was pale, her eyes darting nervously to the door as she knelt beside me. She carried a small bag, her hands trembling as she rummaged through it."Shh," she whispered, pulling out a damp cloth. "I don’t have long. They’ll notice if I’m

Mima's POV “Don't be scared.” I told her, holding her hand. She nodded and visibly relaxed. “he didn't stop no matter how much I begged him to. He said that they needed my expertise but I didn't even understand what he meant by them.” I rubbed circles in her shoulder. “What more did he say?”“He had been coming on to me before that. Telling me how I'm doing a good job for someone my age in that field and he joked once about me being his mate but I didn't pay attention to him. One day, he just came close to me and said since I wouldn't accept willingly, he'd have you force me.”Tears fell from her eyes and I pulled her in for a hug. She shook and shivered under me and I thought if I could do the same thing that I did to Rake to her too. But was it really the same thing? Could I heal someone with a shadow inside of them? My mind went back to Sir Adams and maybe I just can.“Olivia. There's something I want to try, okay? Don't be scared.” She looked puzzled and nodded her head. I

Mima’s POVThe circle formed fast. Word had already traveled that Luna was about to fight one of the senior warriors, and everyone, trainees, guards, advisors, gathered to watch.I could feel their gazes on me. Some were doubtful. Others, curious. A few looked amused.Let them watch.I peeled off my jacket, leaving only my compression top on and stepped into the ring. For training with Kia, I had worn boots and fitted cargo pants but guess it'll come handy today. My opponen cracked his knuckles and bounced on his heels like this was just another training spar.“You sure about this, Luna?” he asked, flashing a grin that didn’t quite reach his eyes.I tilted my head. “You already underestimated me once. Are you sure you’re ready?”That wiped the smirk off his face.Zahra stood to the side, arms folded, clearly enjoying this a little too much. Rake had joined her, his jaw clenched but saying nothing. I could feel his eyes locked on me and telling me to back out that he'd handle it but I

"Learn to take it easy though. Don't be too harsh on yourself." I raised myself to his cheek and gave him a peck. I jumped out of bed and was almost out the door when I stopped."It's almost time for the pack meetings. We'll be the ones hosting this time. Maybe we can convince the others to work with us and fight them. They can't possibly have a hold on all the packs by now right?" I said to him.He looked in thought for a while before he smiled and nodded "I expect nothing less of my mate. Smart idea." I blushed at his compliment and the way he stared at me and I ran out of the room."Zahra." "Mima."We nodded to each other and just stared for a while before we burst out laughing and hugged. "Ready for another day of training Kia on what we don't know shit about?" She said and I laughed."I'm ready." We walked

Mima’s POVThe pain in my back stung, but I pushed it aside. Olivia stood in front of me, shaking like a leaf. Her eyes weren’t just wide with fear, they looked troubled.“Olivia…” I started, gently pushing myself off the bed. “I didn’t mean to—”She shook her head rapidly, backing up until her back hit the wall. “There was something in your hand. You were holding something in your hand!” She screamed at me.I looked at her confused and raised the pendant. “You mean this?” Her face morphed to that of horror.“That thing. That pendant. Don’t bring it near me again,” she said, her voice trembling, every word soaked in dread.I looked at the pendant in my hand. I stood up and walked to the other side of the room and I quickly tucked it back into the drawer and moved slowly toward Olivia, keeping my hands in view.“I’m sorry. I didn’t know it would hurt you,” I said softly. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to calm herself. After a few long seconds, she nodded and opened

Mima's POV Julia was missing? Rake turned to face with a slight frown on his face. He didn't look too pleased by the news either and he looked as though he didn't want me to find out. He rushed to me and pulled me in for a hug, patting my head.“It's not your fault.” He whispered in my ear.How did he know that I was blaming myself? I mean, if I had come here instead of being numb from what I saw, maybe she would still be here and whoever took her wouldn't have.Maybe–Rake hugged me tighter and said it over and over how it wasn't my fault. I relaxed in his arms and let him hold me. It wasn't my fault. I told myself. I pulled away from him to see that everyone in the room was staring at us and my cheeks tinged pink. I cleared my throat and walked over to the doctor. “What happened?” I asked him with a stern voice. The doctor couldn't possibly be a shadow right? If he was he could have killed Rake when he was sick but he tried everything he could to help so he couldn't possibly b

  • The Chosen One   Chapter 102: MISSING

Rake's POV I placed Mima on the bed and kissed her forehead. It took a lot to put her to sleep after what she had just witnessed. There is a lot on her shoulders and it hurts me so much that I can't help her to release her burden. She's the only one that can help to identify the shadows with the powers that she has and I feel so useless as the Alpha and her mate to do nothing but just watch from the sidelines. I gently removed her hair from her face and stared at her. She turned but she didn't wake up from her sleep. Someone knocked at the door so I stood up immediately to answer it. “Yes?” “Alpha, the body has been buried. I came to report that the laboratory has a report that Luna requested and there is a woman by the name of Olivia waiting in front of your office.” I sent him off and he bowed before walking away.I turned back to Mima and kissed her on the forehead again and then touched the necklace that I gave her.–I got to my office and walked in, taking the papers from
