Chapter 5

Sienna POV

I walked towards my suite with a soft smile escaping from my lips while scrolling through my phone. Just at the moment, a call came into my cellphone. I picked up almost immediately.

“Did you see the news?” The anonymous voice asked me.

I immediately nodded. Of course, I saw it, and I was more than excited at the moment.

“Yes, and I’m in love with it. I will talk to you later. Thanks for the good work.” I told the voice and hung up.

The smile on my face grew even wider, shining so brightly that it nearly blinded anyone who looked at me.

Seeing the rumour of Lucas circulating the internet, I was so in love with it. I smiled brightly as I approached my suite, where I had left Daphne.

I frowned slightly at the thought of Daphne.

I had left Daphne behind in the suite after she had chosen to nag me the whole day just because she wanted to see her father. The same man who abandoned her even at the point of death. She chose someone else over her!

I breathed deeply, trying to calm myself down, but it wasn’t working. I wanted nothing at the moment than to completely ruin Lucas along with Lisa.

Just the thought of everything made my eyes stained with tears, but I soon ignored everything. I was happy at the moment about Lucas’s news, and I wanted to concentrate only on that.

I opened the door of the suite and swayed my hips in. My eyes immediately scanned around the room, but strangely, I was welcomed by a great calmness that resided in the room. I was expecting to meet Daphne foaming with anger, but there was no sign of her anywhere.

“She would probably be in the bathroom.” I thought

I slumped on one of the sofas, checking out more news on the internet.

After a few minutes, I dropped my phone, and my brows furrowed slightly. Even though I had been inside the room for quite some time, there was no sign of Daphne anywhere. There was no groggy sound of water coming from the bathroom.

“Daphne,” I called and stood up from where I sat.

I approached the bathroom and pushed the door open. The fresh smell of shampoo I bought in Mexico for Daphne hit me.

“Daphne? Where are you?” I called out for Daphne, but yet there was no sight of her anywhere.

My brows snapped together furiously as I was hit by reality.

Daphne was missing!

“Daphne, where are you? Is this a sort of prank? Stop it now!” I screamed as I took a quick glance around the house, hoping it was just a mere prank.

But no matter how much I searched, I couldn’t find her. I couldn’t find my daughter, my surviving hope!

My eyes suddenly went over to the pink cover-designed book that was lying on the window side. Just at first glance, I could easily recognise the book. It was Daphne’s diary, the same one she had always kept away from me. I thought she left that behind at home.

I didn’t think much about it when I walked up to the windowside; just at the same fast pace, I grabbed a hold of Daphne’s little diary.

I opened it, and my eyes scanned through it, but my face dropped immediately in shock at the contents of what was in Daphne’s diary.

I staggered backward due to the shock. Luckily, the sofa behind me was able to stop me from falling.

Seeing the familiar handwriting I was left completely flustered.

“I hate mummy! She is nothing but a monster; I hate her!” I read the content in her diary.

“She is too harsh. She doesn’t want me!”

Reading more of it made cold tears form at the corner of my eyes.

I couldn’t believe Daphne wrote all this about me. Had I been too harsh to her?

I had been so hurt that I forgot how to be good to my own child.

“Daphne, where are you? I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt you.” I cried out for Daphne searching the whole room, but reality soon hit me that she wasn’t inside.

I rushed over to the telephone and called the hotel’s security department.

“I’m calling from suite 707. I’m sorry, but I can’t find my daughter inside. Can you find her for me, please? She is wearing a pink blouse with a white pleated skirt.” I requested with my shaky voice.

I will never forgive myself if anything happens to Daphne.

"Relax, ma’am; we will search for her in the hotel premises.” They told me.

With that, the call ended.

I slumped into the sofa, looking so worried and scared. Did Daphne run away from me? Did she leave in search of her father?

Did she hate me so much?

I could feel the corner of my eyes getting stained. I felt so apologetic toward her; I just wanted to see her and apologise for hurting her.

Seeing the hotel security department was taking longer than I expected. I got up on my feet and rushed towards the door to search for Daphne on my own before it got too late.

But just then the telephone finally rang back. I rushed back to the desk and picked it up.

“We found her. We found your description at the hotel lounge.” They revealed.

“Thank you so much; I will take it up from there!” I told them and hung up immediately.

With that, I rushed out of the suite, and I fastened my heels towards the elevator.

I got into the elevator, rushing towards the hotel’s lounge.

Why on earth did she go there?

Even though it took longer than I expected, the elevator finally opened up. I rushed out of the elevator, but I didn’t expect to bump into someone just at the same time.

“I’m so sorry, I’m kind of rushing.” I apologise immediately without taking a glance at the person’s face. All I could see was his pair of black shoes, shimmering under the light.

“It’s okay. I could see that too.” The person said, and I was immediately hit by the familiarity of the voice.

I immediately looked up, and I was welcomed by the familiar face that struck me to the core. The same face I hadn’t seen for four years.

“S-sienna?” He stuttered, and he looked utterly shocked seeing me the moment I raised my head up, and my face was clearly visible before him too.

It was no other person than the man who greatly reminded me of my past. The man who was betrayed just like me. The same man who felt hurt and shattered into pieces just like me. It was Lucas’s uncle, Lisa’s ex-husband, Uncle Max.

What is he doing here?
