Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Lucas POV

I ran my finger into my hair, looking so frustrated. What the hell is going on?

I thought today was a good day, but it turned out to be the worst day of my life.

What’s going on?

Just then the door was pushed open and my secretary ran in.

Seeing the look in his eyes, I knew something worse had happened again. I knew he had come to give me more reports, and I was devastated even before I heard them.

“What’s going on, Kenneth?” I asked, sounding so frustrated already.

Ken was my best friend and still my secretary.

“The sales are dropping Lucas. This is getting out of hand.” He told me.

I paced around the room. I ran my fingers into my hair, looking so frustrated. If there is anyone I want to kill right now, it will be the person spoiling my reputation right now—the reputation I had built for years.

“Do you find out who ‘He’ is?” I asked Ken sternly.

He sighed.

“That’s the problem. We are still unable to track him.” He told me.

I groaned in anger.

“Then who on earth is he? Why is he trying to ruin my reputation so badly?”

“I need to check on things again, Lucas,” Ken said and rushed out of my office.

I was left alone. I dropped dejectedly on my chair. Why would anyone paint me as a ‘gay’?

It was currently affecting my business. My sales were dropping, and the shareholders were pulling out their shares.

My whole life that I had built for years started to crumble overnight. The door opened and Ken ran in this time.

“I found out who he is!” He exclaimed as he ran in.

“Who is he?” I asked, looking so curious.

“She isn’t a ‘He’ Lucas. He is a she.” He spilled to my face.

My face dropped, and my brows furrowed. “What do you mean by that?”

“Do you know the shadowwalker?” He asked me.

I couldn’t understand what the shadowwalker had to do with this. I had heard about the shadowwalker, but no one knew who it was. He had been anonymous for years, and no one knew his real identity.

“He is a she Lucas and is your ex-wife!” He exclaimed to my face.

My face turned pale, and I was left completely dumbfounded.

That can’t be possible.

“She is back, Lucas. Your ex-wife is back as the shadowWalker.” He revealed it to my face.

Sienna had disappeared for years. Why would she be suddenly back?

A knock came on my door. My lips felt so heavy that I couldn’t say a word. Ken was the one who directed the person, and it was my junior secretary.

“Sir..” she rushed in, and I could see the horror on her face.

“What’s going on?” Ken asked her.

“Sir, our biggest shareholder just pulled out her shares.” She announced.

My knees went weak. I could feel the whole world spinning at my feet. I couldn’t believe my last hope was gone.

“It’s your ex-wife, but under a different identity. We tried to reach her, but she isn’t picking up.” She reported.

I was left completely shocked.

The biggest shareholder pulled out too, and it was my ex-wife again.

Why does she have to be everything? Why did she come back? To ruin me?

Ken dismissed the female secretary, and I was left alone with him.

I didn’t know what to do. My life had just gone down the drain.

“Lucas, I think you have to go see her. You need to see her before things get worse.” Kenneth said.

I looked at him with a furrowed brow.

“I should beg her?”

I can’t believe my ears. I should beg my ex-wife?

"No, Lucas, but you know that your wedding is just in a few weeks, L- “ He said and suddenly paused.

He stared into my eyes and sighed.

“Lisa won’t be happy to hear this.” He added.

Hearing her name immediately calmed me down.

I inhaled sharply.

“I already gathered information about her. She had just checked into a hotel. You should go there and try to persuade her.” He told me.

Remembering Lisa, I had no choice. I didn’t want Lisa to see me as a loser again.

After getting the location from Ken, I went to the hotel immediately.

My driver stopped in front of the hotel, and I instantly stepped out.

I inhaled sharply, walking towards the reception, but my phone suddenly rang, stopping me. I slipped my phone out of my pocket and glanced at the screen. It was a call from Lisa.

“Hey babe, what’s up?” I heard her energetic voice as usual.

Things haven’t been well, but I can’t say that to Lisa. How can I tell her that my ex-wife is back and business is going down when our wedding is in a few weeks?

“Can I call you back, Lisa? I’m in the middle of a meeting.” I told her.

She must have frowned.

“I thought you said you would be free today.” She mumbled.

That was what I thought too, but things went all wrong.

“I’m sorry something came up,” I said, heading for the lounge instead.

“You mean rumors of you being gay?” She asked.

I froze.

What am I expecting already? I mean, the news had already circulated the city. There was no way she wouldn’t have found out.

“I-I can explain, Lisa…”

“It’s okay. I knew things like that happen in business.” She said, and a wave of relief washed through me.

One of the reasons Lisa was different from my ex-wife was because of her understanding level.

"Alright, try to sort things out. We will talk when you get back home.” She said and hung up.

I sighed and scanned the lounge with my eyes. I was about to return to the reception when I suddenly felt a light pull. My brows furrowed as I looked down to see a kid grabbing my hand.

“Who are you?” I asked her sternly.

“I’m looking for my daddy. Can you help me see a tall, handsome man just like you? He is my daddy.”

Who on earth leaves their child to roam around the lounge?

I knew I didn't have time for all that. I had a lot to sort out, so I yanked my hand away from her.

“You should go to the reception, They will find you your parent,” I told her.

I wanted to leave, but she tugged at my dress.

I was so frustrated that I immediately yelled at her.

“What are you doing? I’m not your father!”

I watched her break into tears, and I felt immediately guilty.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to yell. Just go and find your parent,” I told her calmly.

I locked eyes with her. For a minute, I felt like she looked so familiar.

Her face reminded me of someone so greatly.

“Help me, please.” She pouted, sticking to me so closely.

I inhaled sharply.

“Okay, I will help you. Where is your mother?” I crouched to her size.
