He disgusted me.

I almost ran out of the car when we got to the airport. I just couldn't. His voice and smell. It brought back memories of when I was younger, of all the things I'd been running from. They were now staring me down, forcing me to face them. The hour felt like an eternity. I could see what Olivia was talking about. I needed him to stop looking at me like that. He had no right and it only angered me even more.

Everything about him angered me, even the ring he now wore. It reminded me of how naive I was to have ever worn it and here he was now parading around with it like it was some kind of memorabilia, an ode to us. I wondered if he had placed it on for an emotional effect; that I'd see him wearing it and be touched by it all. I'd learnt the hard way years ago that he was a man who clearly planned ahead.
