Chapter 53: No coming back

Aine’s Point of View

It took a while for my brain to catch up with what was happening. Luna Camilla was hugging me; her warm floral scent flooded my nostrils and the peach frills on her dress tickled my nose. I sharply pulled away from her. I was not only confused but it was strange. Luna Camilla had never hugged me in all the time I was with Oishin.

Sure, we greeted each other but it was never a hug. Now here she was behaving as if I was her long-lost daughter in law that she had accepted as her own and we had been close. She had never been that friendly or warm with me.

Her golden hair, nicely curled, caught the light as she beamed at me. You'd think I was a lottery ticket. She was still dressed nicely after all these years, in an expensive coral beach dress with dangling seashell earrings painted gold but her face was tired. She looked worn out and less of herself, unsure, lacking even. She wasn't shining brightly anymore; she didn't seem so beautiful and out of reach.
