CHAPTER FIFTY SIX

ALEXANDER

I stood there watching Sally and James as they walked upstairs. I folded my fist and pressed my lips hard against each other.

I watched them until they walked into Sally's room before I turned around and left the house.

I turned around to leave when I heard someone call my name. I turned around, and it was Sally's mom.

I stood at the spot and waited for her to get close enough so I'd hear her out.

"I don't ever want to see you here, or anywhere close to my daughter," she warned. "If you insist, I'd have to call the cops on you."

I nodded slowly and dragged my feet out of the house.

I got into my car and drove off. I promised myself that I would never go back to Sally's house or try to converse with her and explain myself.

The did had already been done, and that was what mattered the most.

I wondered why I was bothering so much about Sally and trying to build back a marriage that wasn't true to begin with.
