Chapter 61

"Cattleya! What I heard is right and you are really here to visit us."

I greeted Sister Cordilla with a sweet smile and then gave her a big hug.

"It's been so long, Sister Cordilla. I'm sorry that I haven't visited the orphanage for a long time and I haven't been able to say goodbye to you here."

Sister Cordilla flashed a beam. "It's okay, Loren has told us what happened and I felt sorry for you. I guess life lately has been good to you because you finally came back here with the same smile on your lips.” She caressed my arms as her eyes shifted to my back. "Now I see why. I thought you only came with Loren and her friend. But you actually came here with a boyfriend.”

"Uh, he's my husband, actually." I clarified, as I extended my hand to let Jaxson come closer to me.

"He is such a fine young man. You have a good looking husband. I honestly thought that you will grow old because you have never been interested in any guy before. I remembered how many of our guests here at the orphanage ask if you are single. But every time I tell you to at least give them a chance, you will hardly pass and choose to spend time with the kids instead. I can't believe now you have a husband."

I awkwardly laugh again. I really need to work on my image. Maybe I had too much trouble to interact with other people before especially into guys. It's just that I don't really want to talk to men because they are a little messy to talk to. Then it's hard to read their brains. Like when they call your name and just grin at you. It's insane.

Maybe, almost everyone that knows me will be shocked to know that I have a husband now as handsome as Jaxson. Like, how playful is destiny? Right?

Jaxson's mouth came slightly closer to my ear and then whispered.

"I did not expect that the girl I saw in the nightclub wearing red lingerie was such a nanny. No wonder she got mad at me for asking her on a date.”

I glared at Jaxson, as he in return grinned at me.

"Oh, and by the way, Cattleya. There's actually an event later in the evening and it's sponsored for the kids. They had been practicing their singing and dancing talents to show to the guests for weeks. Would you two like to stay and watch their performance? The kids would absolutely appreciate your presence, Cattleya. They had been asking Loren nonstop when you would come back because they really missed you."

I am in awe, knowing how the kids here really shower me with love.

“I would love to stay and watch. Actually, my husband and I came here to volunteer today. Is there anyone who can help us regarding the event that will happen later, Sister Cordilla?" I asked as I felt Jaxson's gentle squeeze on my hand, probably stopping me from saying that we are here to volunteer. But that's my plan for today.

"Oh, I am so glad that you asked. Actually, we still need more people to help with decoration and catering. If you guys can do a little help, the orphanage will really appreciate your work.”

I smiled at Sister Cordilla, "We would love to. We will start now and we will go inside to finish early because the guests might have arrived.” I waved my hand at the children before I pulled Jaxson who seemed to be unable to believe what he heard.

"Cattleya, this is supposed to be a fun and rest day. Why do I still need to work on my honeymoon?”

I snickered after hearing him whine. I could barely take steps because of his weight. Because instead of walking, he is still dragging me and doesn't seem to want to go inside.

"This will be fun, Jax, trust me."

"Oh of course for you it will, that man is here."

My feet came to a halt as I turned back to Jaxson which he immediately averted my gaze. I let go of his hand and stopped pulling him.

"Jax, that's my former manager." I uttered fiercely.

"Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that he stares at you like a great movie."

My head tilted, perplexed by what he just said. "What do you mean by that?"

Jaxson shifted his eyes and stared intently into mine as if he couldn't believe me.

"He is interested in you."

I burst into feigned chuckle. "Why do you guys always say that? Can't a man just be nice to me without anyone thinking that he likes me? Is the world really that fucked up?”

“Campbell doesn't like you, and he is being nice.”

"And what do you mean by that?"

"That man is being nice to you, and I know that he likes you, Cattleya. I know exactly that move, he is trying to impress you, and the way his eyes move from your head down to your toes? He likes you. I know that."

"And?" I asked. "Are you jealous?"

He puffed air on his nose as he averted his gaze for a bit before returning it to me. "You are seriously asking me that? What do you expect me to say? No? That's it's okay to me that you would go out with that man next weekend? Cattleya, my wife is being liked in front of me, should I really not feel jealous?”

I chortled. "And what does Mr. Sol liking me has to do something to make you feel jealous? You already said that I am your wife, Jax. I am a married woman now, regardless of what condition is behind this ring, I am married to you.”

I noticed the grin on Jaxson's lips gradually becoming bigger as the corners of his mouth drew upwards.

"-Plus, what's the point of being jealous if I can't even take my eyes off you."

Jaxson took my arm back as he gave me a quick peck on my lips.

"Feeling better?" I asked, which Jaxson quickly nodded, locking my fingers in between his. "Now, we really need to get to work."
