"Cattleya! What I heard is right and you are really here to visit us."
I greeted Sister Cordilla with a sweet smile and then gave her a big hug."It's been so long, Sister Cordilla. I'm sorry that I haven't visited the orphanage for a long time and I haven't been able to say goodbye to you here."Sister Cordilla flashed a beam. "It's okay, Loren has told us what happened and I felt sorry for you. I guess life lately has been good to you because you finally came back here with the same smile on your lips.” She caressed my arms as her eyes shifted to my back. "Now I see why. I thought you only came with Loren and her friend. But you actually came here with a boyfriend.”"Uh, he's my husband, actually." I clarified, as I extended my hand to let Jaxson come closer to me."He is such a fine young man. You have a good looking husband. I honestly thought that you will grow old because you have never been interested in any guy before. I remembered how many of our guests here at the orphanage ask if you are single. But every time I tell you to at least give them a chance, you will hardly pass and choose to spend time with the kids instead. I can't believe now you have a husband."I awkwardly laugh again. I really need to work on my image. Maybe I had too much trouble to interact with other people before especially into guys. It's just that I don't really want to talk to men because they are a little messy to talk to. Then it's hard to read their brains. Like when they call your name and just grin at you. It's insane.Maybe, almost everyone that knows me will be shocked to know that I have a husband now as handsome as Jaxson. Like, how playful is destiny? Right?Jaxson's mouth came slightly closer to my ear and then whispered."I did not expect that the girl I saw in the nightclub wearing red lingerie was such a nanny. No wonder she got mad at me for asking her on a date.”I glared at Jaxson, as he in return grinned at me."Oh, and by the way, Cattleya. There's actually an event later in the evening and it's sponsored for the kids. They had been practicing their singing and dancing talents to show to the guests for weeks. Would you two like to stay and watch their performance? The kids would absolutely appreciate your presence, Cattleya. They had been asking Loren nonstop when you would come back because they really missed you."I am in awe, knowing how the kids here really shower me with love.“I would love to stay and watch. Actually, my husband and I came here to volunteer today. Is there anyone who can help us regarding the event that will happen later, Sister Cordilla?" I asked as I felt Jaxson's gentle squeeze on my hand, probably stopping me from saying that we are here to volunteer. But that's my plan for today."Oh, I am so glad that you asked. Actually, we still need more people to help with decoration and catering. If you guys can do a little help, the orphanage will really appreciate your work.”I smiled at Sister Cordilla, "We would love to. We will start now and we will go inside to finish early because the guests might have arrived.” I waved my hand at the children before I pulled Jaxson who seemed to be unable to believe what he heard."Cattleya, this is supposed to be a fun and rest day. Why do I still need to work on my honeymoon?”I snickered after hearing him whine. I could barely take steps because of his weight. Because instead of walking, he is still dragging me and doesn't seem to want to go inside."This will be fun, Jax, trust me.""Oh of course for you it will, that man is here."My feet came to a halt as I turned back to Jaxson which he immediately averted my gaze. I let go of his hand and stopped pulling him."Jax, that's my former manager." I uttered fiercely."Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that he stares at you like a great movie."My head tilted, perplexed by what he just said. "What do you mean by that?"Jaxson shifted his eyes and stared intently into mine as if he couldn't believe me."He is interested in you."I burst into feigned chuckle. "Why do you guys always say that? Can't a man just be nice to me without anyone thinking that he likes me? Is the world really that fucked up?”“Campbell doesn't like you, and he is being nice.”"And what do you mean by that?""That man is being nice to you, and I know that he likes you, Cattleya. I know exactly that move, he is trying to impress you, and the way his eyes move from your head down to your toes? He likes you. I know that.""And?" I asked. "Are you jealous?"He puffed air on his nose as he averted his gaze for a bit before returning it to me. "You are seriously asking me that? What do you expect me to say? No? That's it's okay to me that you would go out with that man next weekend? Cattleya, my wife is being liked in front of me, should I really not feel jealous?”I chortled. "And what does Mr. Sol liking me has to do something to make you feel jealous? You already said that I am your wife, Jax. I am a married woman now, regardless of what condition is behind this ring, I am married to you.”I noticed the grin on Jaxson's lips gradually becoming bigger as the corners of his mouth drew upwards."-Plus, what's the point of being jealous if I can't even take my eyes off you."Jaxson took my arm back as he gave me a quick peck on my lips."Feeling better?" I asked, which Jaxson quickly nodded, locking my fingers in between his. "Now, we really need to get to work.""Do I really need to do all that? If you need some assistance I can just call for a staff and-”I pressed my fingers to his lips, cutting him off. "There's no fun if the staff will do it for you. Let's just do this for today and I promise to go out with you tomorrow night if you have some free time.”“Anywhere I want?” Jaxson asked with a smirk."Anywhere you want.""But what about my image? What if the guests who attend know me and they see me serving meals to people and fixin the decorations? My career will be in shambles.”“It's good publicity.” I just said before pulling Jaxson towards the venue again. I spent more time trying to please him than organizing the event. "It will be a great day, I promise.""It will be." He uttered. "But only if you give me a kiss each balloon I hang."I sniggered, half suppressing. “You are such a cringe-worthy person. I hope you know that.”When we finally arrived at the small garden where the event will be held later, I saw that Loren was starting t
Our kisses continued to deepen as we felt each other's body by caressing it with our hand. Jaxson's touch on my body is like a wood being thrown to the fire, making the sensation that I am feeling in my body rise up. His hand ran from my arms down to my chest. I felt my heart racing with its highest speed that very tender touch of his palm on mine. Slowly he moves as it makes space between our fingers and clutches my hand tightly. When we felt tired, we both let go of our kisses as we pressed our foreheads together with both grins on our lips and exchanged breaths. It took a few seconds before Jaxson slowly crawled his hand back to my chin and brushed his lips against mine very lightly and removed it in a fraction of seconds, teasing me to crave for his lips more. My hand motioned, returning it to the back of his head, caressing his hair as I kept an eye contact. I can see through his eyes the desire and obsession. I had my hands wrapped around him with my mouth hanging open, waiting f
"The opening of the event started and the guests were almost complete. We can start serving the food now while someone is speaking on stage before the children's performance begins." Sister Glenda said with a tinge of anxiety in her voice. I accepted her hand when she extended her hand that was holding two pieces of cloth. "You can wear this as well so that you won't be mixing with the crowd." Sister Glenda moved her hand to gesture at Jaxson because he seemed to be lost staring at the apron.I was the only one who accepted it and then gave her a sweet smile so she wouldn't worry about Jaxson's stupor."We'll be out there." I muttered.Sister Glenda nodded and then took a tray and carefully took it out to the garden. Jaxson and I left the two of us while he was still speechless."You must be very culture shocked, aren't you, baby?" I said in a low tone, enough for him to hear me. I placed myself in front of Jaxson, trying to reach his eyes. "Listen, if I am asking too much you don't ha
Silence enveloped the entire car.I turned my head to look out the window so that Manager Sol could not see my non-stop flowing tears streaming down my face as I suppressed my voice from making any sound. I know that he already knows that I am crying now, but I still don't want him to see my tears.Even though we've been in the car for almost thirty minutes, the weight I am feeling in my chest still hasn't lessened and continues to linger. It is still as heavy as the moment Jaxson let those words slip out of his mouth and say it right in front of my face with no hesitation.I don't regret that I fell in love with him. I really don’t, and I don’t want to.I have no regrets for those moments when I am completely into him and ready to give the whole me, realizing how much I love him.But what I regret is that I believe Jaxson that he sees me as Cattleya. That he loves me the way I am even though it never came from his mouth. I thought he is different from his step-mother, but he sees me a
“Honey, have you already eaten?” Manager Sol’s grandmother asked me as she took both of my hands.I shook my head softly to tell her honestly that I haven’t eaten anything yet because I don’t want to lie tonight and maybe if I lie, I end up rubbing my empty stomach again at night.“How can someone bring a girl and not feed her? Is that what you learn from me?” She playfully glared at Manager Sol as she shifted her eyes to me and pinched my cheeks like I am a child. “I’ll get you something.” She said enthusiastically as she turned around and headed to what I think was the kitchen. When I could no longer see her, I was drawn back to the people singing together while moving their bodies and dancing. I couldn’t stop my body from reacting by bobbing my head and slowly thomping my feet keeping up with the rhythm that their voices and the instruments creates.“Manager Sol? What kind of place is this?” I said in a hushed tone being careful to not disturbed them from singing while I am still bo
I punched my chest lightly as Richard poured water on my glass, panicky giving it to me. I continued coughing as I struggled to find his eyes."Seriously, don't you have any brakes on your words?""But you don't have to worry." Richard added. "I know my boundaries, Cattleya. You are married to someone now that I know you truly love and I know that my chance is over. The only mistake I will regret in my life is not confessing to you as quickly as I could. But, like what I said, you don’t have to worry about my feelings for you. I am going to handle that myself. I will be here as a friend only.”"I'm sorry..." I whispered to him as the corners of my eyes drooped. "Honestly, I don't know how to react in any situation like this. And I'm sorry that I can't like you the same way that you do to me. You deserve so much more in this world and I can’t give it to you. But please know that I think you are an amazing person, and I know for sure that you will someday find someone for you.”I was baf
I stared blankly at the ceiling as I pulled the blanket up to my chest. I have been hearing my phone ringing for almost thirty minutes repeatedly, but I don't feel like answering it.I don't want to talk to him, I'm still hurt by the words he said to me.I almost rolled over in bed but still couldn't fall asleep. Every time I close my eyes, the only thing I remember are those words that keep echoing in my brain."I am Jaxson Madrigal, everybody knows me as the heir of Ruegold and you are just an ordinary girl."He is such a jerk for saying that.I felt the heat in my eyes again and the heat rising in my cheeks as I remembered those words more."I am Jaxson Madrigal, everybody knows me as the heir of Ruegold and you are just an ordinary girl."I thought he loved me...My phone rang again and this time I decided to pick up my phone that I threw on the bed earlier to check the phone screen.[Jaxson, Calling….]I didn't answer his call and instead just stared at his name on the screen."Ja
When I looked down, he wasn't lying. He climbed up using a thick rope tied to a tree almost adjacent to the room where I was staying."What's nice after a long day? Pic nic." He said and then went directly into the room and passed through the window.“Seriously?” I fully rolled my eyes. "Aren't you running out of energy, Manager Sol? You mean, Richard? The night is too late.”He didn't seem to hear me as he laid the cloth he was carrying on the floor and then placed the basket he was carrying on it.“Girls love sweets, don't they? I want to please you, Catt. So, I picked all these fresh strawberries for you, washed them, and brought you some melted chocolate.” He proudly exclaimed as he carefully set down plates full of strawberries and a bowl of melted chocolate."Did you go shopping for strawberries?" I asked and then approached him when Richard pointed the empty space in front of him. “It looks really good. Let me taste one.” I pressed my lips together, watching Richard as he took o
