Chapter 69: Hurt Me Again
Sofia's POV
I wasn't used to Marcus not being here tonight, but I knew his meeting was important.
My phone rang, and I saw Maria was the caller. I answered because I knew she wanted to talk to me.
“How are you? Where is Marcus?” She asked while combing her hair.
“He can't accompany me now; he has an important meeting to attend,” I told her. She nodded. I feel bad for Marcus; I know he's tired, but he chose to stay here in the hospital with me. If I tell him to rest, he always says that he feels better when he's with me.
“Then why didn't you tell me so I could go there?” Of course, she's busy. I didn't want to disturb her.
“I'm okay, besides, he will be back tomorrow morning, so no need to worry,” I assured her. She went to her mirror while putting on night cream.
“I'll visit you tomorrow; I don't have a meeting to attend,” she said while wearing a jacket.
“Make sure you
Chapter 70: I Hope You're Happy Without Me Sofia POV I hurriedly removed everything that was on my body, went outside the room, and hurriedly looked for a taxi. I was catching air when I got inside the car. I'm still not okay. Even though I'm weak, I still manage to call a taxi with my hospital dress. I escaped, I wanted to see him. I wanted to see it with my own eyes. I don't care if the driver finds me weird. All I did was cry. My heartbeat kept on rising while we were on our way to the bar. My sight is getting blurry because of my unstable tears. I laughed, remembering those moments when he looked at me with his eyes. He made me believe that he loved me. Did he really love me? I don't know how to face him tonight. I don't know how he would be able to react to me. I love you. I'm dying inside not to hold you like I wanted His words keep on echoing in my head. He made me believe
Chapter 71: Helena Presley Sofia’s POV “Ms. Helena, Madam is looking for you,” one of the maids called my attention while I was watering the plants. “Tell her I’m coming. I’ll finish this one, Jenna,” I smiled at her, and she walked away. I held my long, straight hair and tied it up. It took me a minute to get to the living room because of this big mansion. “You’re looking for me, Mom?” I sat beside her and hugged her, which made her smile broadly. “I am planning to go to an engagement party with you this week,” she held my hand while playing with it. I knew it was hard for her to convince me to join different occasions like that because of my past experience. Five years had passed since Mommy Stella found me unconscious, lying on the ground. Until now, I don’t know what exactly happened that day. I can’t remember anything, not even my name or anyone who is connected to me. She told me tha
Chapter 72: Uncomfortable Sofia’s POV “I’m sorry I can’t go with you tonight,” I held her hand. “Mom, there’s nothing to worry about, okay? Besides, I won’t let you come with me with your condition right now.” I got a glass of water and handed it to her with her medicine. “You have to get ready now, don’t worry. I’ll be okay soon.” I nodded and kissed her before leaving her room. I went to my room and stared at the dress we bought the other day. It is shining and really perfect for night events. It is a backless gold dress with a slit on it. I’ll just pair them with a gold necklace and earrings, I guess? I went to the mirror and stared at the makeup. Staying here for five years, I’ve learned too many different things, not only when it comes to businesses but also doing makeup. I would also like to ask Mommy Stella if I could learn how to cook with our professional chef. I started to put makeup on my face;
Chapter 73: Sofia? Sofia's POV “You're the one they are talking about, the heir of Presley?” His fiancée looked at me. “Yes, actually, my mom cannot attend because she's not feeling well, but she wants to congratulate both of you,” I smiled at them. “Are you okay? You've been looking at me, Mr. Sterling,” I said, catching his attention. “I'm just thinking about someone,” he said and fixed his bowtie. “Excuse us, Ms Presley, we have other guests to entertain,” Natalie said, but while they were talking, I overheard them. “She's not Helena. She's Sofia,” Mr. Sterling said. Sofia? It made me confused. “She's not Sofia, she's dead, Marcus, you better leave her alone,” her voice became mad. I just got a glass of champagne. “Helena!” A lady in her 50s came up to me. “Mrs. Sue! It's been a long time since I've seen you. How are you?” We hugged each other, and I could see how happy she was. “I'm great; wait, where is your mom?” She asked while searching around. “She's not feeling
Chapter 74: I fear no one Sofia's POV I pushed him as hard as I could; I was scared that his fiancée might see us. He seemed surprised because of what I did to him. “Why did you do that? I'm confused; you’ve been staring at me the whole party, and it is making me uncomfortable,” his expression suddenly changed, and I heard him sigh. “I'm sorry, it's just that you look like someone I knew before. You look like her; I just missed that person,” he messed his hair up and glanced at me before leaving me behind. I was left puzzled by his words. What is he talking about? I just introduced myself to him earlier. What's with his action? Why did he do that? I was about to run after him to ask him, but then I bumped into someone; my purse fell to the floor, and I hurriedly picked it up. “Oh my gosh, I'm really sorry; I didn't see you coming,” I apologized to the lady in front of me. She seemed shocked when she saw me; she didn't even say a word. “Ma'am, are you okay? Are you hurt or s
Chapter 75: Bridesmaid Sofia's POV After that night, I wasn't expecting Mr. Sterling to contact my secretary, but he accepted my offer to invest in his company. “Elisha, where are the files that I've been telling you to submit to me yesterday?” I kept looking at my table, but I couldn't find them. I forget where I put them. “Ma'am? I just handed them to you yesterday,” she said. She helped me search for them. “Yeah, I just forgot where I put them.” There is too much paper on my table, and these past few days, we've been really busy. “Is it okay if I check your drawer, Ma'am?” She asked, and I nodded to her. “I found them, Ma'am,” she handed me the files. “Thank you; I really forgot about them. Have you checked your email? I already sent the letter and the designs that I want to add to the proposal,” I glanced at the files and opened them. “I already checked it, Ma’am. I also told Sasha about it. I also made an appointment for your meeting with Mr. Charles next week,” I sighed
Chapter 76: Pre-celebration Sofia's POV “You're really improving with your cooking, Ma'am Helena,” I chuckled at what our chef said. “It's because I have a great teacher, I guess?” I replied, making him laugh. “You're not going to fire me, would you?” He asked for the hundredth time. “I won't do that, even if I became one of the greatest chefs in the world. You've worked with my mom for almost ten years, Josh. That's why stop asking if I will fire you because my answer will always be the same: I won't, okay?” I chuckled while seasoning the chicken. I remembered what happened last week. After I agreed to his proposal, I didn't know if I answered the right thing or not. “Helena? Aren't you busy this week?” Mom suddenly showed up and went to the refrigerator. “Not that busy, Mom, because we already finished all the paperwork last week,” I said while sautéing the onions and garlic in the pan. She went to the table and opened a box of ice cream, which made me crave it, too. “Mom,
Chapter 77: Night Swimming Sofia's POV It took us an hour before we could finally arrive at the hotel we were staying at. I even slept in the car, but Alex woke me up when we arrived. “Let me carry your luggage, Helena,” he insisted, which made me glare at him. “What?!” he stopped, asking for my reaction. “That's the first time you've said those words, Alex,” I said, and he just shrugged his shoulders. We went inside the hotel, and I was surprised that the others were already there. They were even looking at us while we were laughing together because of his silliness. “I'm sorry we're late,” I added, seeing that they’d been waiting for too long. I looked at Marcus, and he seemed surprised, but I just gave him a broad smile. I wasn't even aware of the other guests' names, but what's important is that I'm with Alex. “Let's book a room now,” Natalie encircled her arm around Marcus's, and we went to the front desk. Natalie and Marcus would share a room together, just like the o
