"Marry me," he demanded, "and I'll handle your grandmother's hospital bills and your brother's court case... Otherwise, prepare to face assault charges for hitting me and potential jail time." He said to her with a smirk. Despite seeming like the perfect guy most women dream of, to Aella Thompson, he embodied her perception of how wealthy people acted: proud, mean, rude, and self-centered. The weight of his ultimatum left her stunned. A contract marriage with Damien Sullivan or the threat of imprisonment? Aella agreed to marry him, and over time, Damien, known for his cold-hearted nature, started developing feelings for her sweet and selfless personality. This exposed a different, warmer side of Damien that she never knew existed. However, just as their feelings for each other grew, Damien's past returned to haunt them. His ex-girlfriend, Amelia Earhart, who had left him years ago to pursue her dreams, reappeared unexpectedly. Her sudden return stirred up old feelings in Damien, forcing him into a dilemma; choosing his ex, a high-profile A-list model or his wife, Aella, a skilled dressmaker who was now five months pregnant with his child.

Her brother, Collins, was accused of a crime he never committed: rape.
Her gaze went up to her brother as he shook his head, indicating that he was innocent and knew nothing about what he had been accused of.
Hurt and betrayal were clearly written on his face as he averted his gaze from the judge to the family that had framed him. The family that housed the real culprit.
They were the people he worked for as a cleaner in their mansion, along with the victim, who happened to be his girlfriend.
She was raped by the son of his boss, but in an effort to manipulate the situation, they bribed the girl's family to coerce her into accusing Collins instead of their own son.
"After hearing from both parties," the judge's voice resounded in the court, and this brought Aella out of her thoughts as she focused on the judge to hear the judgment that would be passed on to her brother.
"This honorable court..." He paused, his gaze fixed on the accused, Collins, who stood in the witness box, visibly consumed by fear and anxiety.
"...finds you, Collins Thompson, guilty of the accusation of rape, and you are hereby sentenced to fifteen years in prison... while the court finds Liam Macaulay not guilty."
Rage and sadness rose within Aella as soon as she heard the judgment.
She tried to get to her brother but was stopped by the police as she watched them whisk him away from the courtroom.
"I promise to get you out of there, brother!" She screamed at the top of her voice.
Seething with rage, she glanced at the girl and her family, who were sitting amidst the crowd in the courtroom.
Then, her gaze shifted to the real culprit and his family, who were smirking with confidence in a corner.
She stomped outside to go and have a talk with the lawyer who was in charge of her brother's case.
"Barrister John!" She called out, and a young man in his early thirties, dressed in the customary attire of a black robe and white wig and clutching a leather-bound legal briefcase, turned to her amidst the crowd leaving the courtroom.
Hurrying down to him and slightly out of breath, she went on, "Barrister John, we both know that Collins... isn't guilty of the crime he was...sentenced to prison for," she said, her voice trembling as she spoke to him.
"Err… Well, Miss Thompson, you heard when the girl testified that your brother was the one who had violated her."
"And there was other evidence, along with witnesses to corroborate it... I'm sorry, but at that moment, the case was out of my hands," he said with a shrug.
"I really tried my best to help you and your brother despite the little you paid me, but I guess you just have to suck it up." He said it with an air of indifference.
"It is just fifteen years, after all." He added.
If only looks could kill, then he would have been dead by that moment as Aella shot him a deadly glare.
"If you would excuse me," and with that, he walked away.
She felt her phone vibrate in her hand, and as she checked the caller ID, it turned out to be the doctor in charge of the hospital her grandmother was admitted to.
"Hi, Dr. Martinez," she said as soon as she picked up the call.
"Good day, Miss Thompson. As you are aware, I'm calling regarding your grandmother's health."
"Her condition is deteriorating rapidly, and her kidney has ceased to function," he explained over the phone.
"I'm afraid there's a significant risk that she may not survive this illness unless she undergoes a kidney transplant within the next few weeks," he concluded.
"No…"Aella muttered.
She had been tested and confirmed as a potential donor for her grandmother. However, the delay in the entire process was primarily due to the cost of the transplant.
Aella was already feeling suffocated after hearing what the doctor said.
"Dr. Martinez, please, I am begging you to do everything in your power to save my grandmother.
"I promise I'll find a way to get the money... I'll pay you," she said with a shaky voice.
"I'm afraid there is nothing we can do, Miss Thompson. It's only fair that you deposit at least half of the money before we can do anything for her."
"Remember that we have treated her without collecting a dime from you. Or better still, you can take her to another hospital."
A brief silence lingered between them over the line before the doctor's voice returned, saying, "Have a nice day." And with that, the call came to an end.
Aella felt like the whole world was closing in on her. She wondered how she was supposed to come up with a whopping sum of twenty million dollars for her grandmother's kidney transplant surgery when she only had three thousand dollars in her account.
Frustrated, she crouched down in front of the court as others left the court premises. She caught a glimpse of Emily, Collins' girlfriend, who had played a vital role in putting him in jail.
As she attempted to call out Emily's name, another call came in, and this time, it was from her boss, Simon.
Aella worked as a waitress at a restaurant. While the pay wasn't sufficient to cover all her expenses, it was still reasonable.
Groaning in frustration, she picked up the call. "Good morning, Mr. Simon," she greeted anxiously, already anticipating his outburst as he is a man with anger issues.
"What is good about the morning, Aella? Huh?! You tell me what's good about the morning. Your shift was supposed to start at 8 a.m., and it's now past ten, yet you're not here," he exclaimed suddenly as soon as she greeted him.
"...errm, Sir, I-"
"Cut the crap, Aella!" He stopped her from explaining anything to him.
"I am not paying you to slack off or just play around, Aella."
"In fact, you are fired! Don't bother showing up at the restaurant anymore."
"Wait, sir, you can't do it." But the line was long dead.
Aella felt like the whole world was against her. "Where do I start from?" She asked herself as tears streamed down her cheeks.
Aella was swept off her feet more than she could have imagined, but not by someone she had thought. She decided she was not going to think about Damien or anything that has to do with him, or literally anything that is tied to his being. She didn't want to think about it. as much as she knew this was the happiest she had ever been since they got married. The least she could do for herself now was to stop ruminating about the past, not when she was starting to come back to being herself. This was the gift to herself, and this was more like the best gift ever. She will stop thinking about him and focus more on understanding herself; she was planning to get a divorce sooner than later. She wanted to be totally free so she could start living again. She's sat in the car; it's a new hair and a her new self. As they rode across the city, she looked back at Blythe, who seemed to be very happy and seemed to be thinking of something that made him smile every second. She looked away from his fac
Just the right amount of sauce to make him look like God's sent. She stared at Blythe, who just unconsciously did the cutest things. There were times he talked to himself, there were times he just glared out the window, or there were times where he just picked up the salon magazine and read it, and his expressions whenever he came across something controversial made him the perfect partner to give your work the gist.Blythe had taken the initiative to get Aella a snack after every hour at the salon he got her milkshakes and takeouts.“Here's some for you!” Blythe voiced handing over the takeout box to her.By this time she had just started to make her hair; she had first gotten into washing it and then styling it.“Thank you!” She smiled, and he walked back to his seat.“That's an intentional mannn!" The hairstylist teased her as Blythe fully walked away.Aella didn't know what to think, nor did she know what to say to the hairstylist.“He's just my friend!” Aella responded with a smi
He paced back and forth as he struggled to keep to himself for the past three weeks—nothing from her—nothing to keep his feelings in check, not even her green light. It was every risky to go visit her in her workplace, as he appeared to be a potential threat to Damien, especially when Damien was the reason for this whole mess in the first place. He picked up his phone for the billionth time trying to place a call to her and explained things well enough to her. But he couldn't; he couldn't bring himself to explain the truth of the whole matter to her; that would not only end him; it would also end their whole family name and career. The way they had left things off, they knew Marie would probably see him as a bad person or worse, a monster that didn't deserve to live.Seth had always wished he wasn't born into the family he was born into, and quite true, he didn't like it there, but ever since he met Marie, he had wished more for that prayer to come to pass than ever before. He felt c
"Well, I must say you look absolutely beautiful." Blythe complimented Aella as he opened the car door for her.Aella had never had alone time with Blythe before; spending the whole day with him felt so illegal, but she knew she had to leave her room at least once so she wouldn't rot away in misery. She had thought about it all so much that she didn't want to think about it anymore; she just wanted to start living life again. The life she had thought she could live with Damien, but it turns out that she couldn't.It's funny how the same life she craved for was the same life God had helped her package with her mom; she could live freely and not depend on anyone. For the first time, she smiled, and that smile was genuine.“And I must say you don't look bad yourself!”. Aella responded with a soft voice.Seeing her smile is his delight, and he wanted more of it to happen. He kicked the car to a start, and they started their little journey.Aella wasn't used to engaging in conversations wit
Yes, maybe there were people out there who hurt you real bad, but you need to understand that they shouldn't make you stop loving; you just choose to love yourself enough to love them and not overlove them, so you know when to leave or when to live by grace, just like you would give yourself a voice when necessary.Aella had left Vollini and Becca in the living room to discuss while she just went to her roomma. DN just wallowed. She cuddled up in her bed and just stared out the window. She watched as the snow fell lightly; she could think of nothing else than just...Her baby…Damien was no longer on her mind; she couldn't really care less; he had done what he had to do, and he had done his worst already. If he cheated, it really wasn't any of her business; the only thing she blamed herself for was staying that long trying to take her power back. She sighed again, giving the fact that she had so many things planned out for herself and her baby. She looked down at her phone and realize
Chapter 139“Just when you thought you had it all, there another shows up to be the worst."Collins paced back and forth in the living room of Becca's house as he wanted to tell Becca about how unruly Damien had been to his sister. Aella wasn't in the midst of all these; they had allowed her to be alone for a while in her room, which they made sure to check on her on a few occasions.“Does he ever think at all, like why is he being the animal that he delivered me from, why is he being like that forsaken dude called Seth?" Collins raged again.Truthfully, he hadn't known his sister's case until they got home from the hospital, and immediately he heard it took the strength in Becca to keep him grounded and not go to confront Damien.Collins had just arrived at the right time.Becca was instantly notified of how inseparable Collins and Aella are; she saw how much love they both have for each other, and she is more than willing to love them both. But she wondered who this sort of guy Coll
Just at the beginning of dusk, there was a man who you would consider lonely due to his demeanour and the way he looked so unlikely, he looked destabilised he look tormented like he had from NS fetching out his should price by piece. He suddenly realised how much he had taken from her ,how much thing he had stolen and as much he was willing to give it back, he knew he wasn't in the right position to go ve it because initially je had stolen it from her.Damien stood on the highway his car parked by the side of the road as he stared AFR off into the distance his eyes fixated on something -the city lights but his eyes wasn't on them his eyes were remembering and capturing something's that would shine as bright as the city lights. Her eyes Over time he realised that he had witnessed how the glow in her eyes disappeared each was eryryutme he became an asshole, every time he decuded ti step down from being a man to bueng a toddler. He heaved a deep sigh as the whole guilt pulled a weight i
Not all that glittered seems to be gold... But for Damien, his vomit seems to glitter like gold and looks like the most beautiful diamonds from the outside. As he dropped Aella in the hospital, he turned back and went back to work. He didn't bother to ask what happened to her or what might happen to her; he asked then if she was going to be fine, and they said definitely the rest if it was none of his business, but unfortunately enough, they told him as much as he didn't want to hear about everything the doctor called him as he got to the office. The doctor's call came through as he was about to enter his office. On getting into the office, he noticed that Amelia was no longer in the office, including her bag and all. He answered the call and settled down.Luckily, the doctor happened to be his friend!!!“Hey Corniel!” He voiced over the phone, rearranging his fiel and just getting ready to head home.“You seemed to be in a hurry; was there something that came up?” Corniel asked as t
Sometimes things aren't always as they seem, sometimes it's the opposite and sometimes it's true but sometimes it's just complicated. But for Aella it was exactly what it seems like, Damien was slowly bringing in his ex into their marriage to replace her and guess what??She wanted it that way…At least with that she was out of the marriage and out of his life.“What was what?” She asked, popping a lollipop in her mouth.“Hmm, nice strawberry flavour!” She thought to herself after the full taste of the lollipop filled her mouth. She honestly didn't care about the useless and unrecognised tantrum Damien was throwing in fact nothing was going to make her care in this world, and If there's a next, she wouldn't even beat an eyes“That nonsense you did back there you thought was funny, what if everyone believed you?” “Why wouldn't they believe me, none of it was a lie” Aella shruggedAella scater so many months still wondered why Damien's lying capability still shook her,,.“Why does he l
