Layla's POV

I woke up to a message from my dad.

This man would not cease to provoke me.

What does he want from me this time? I thought, checking his message.

He sent me a location to meet up with him, threatening to expose the truth if I refuse to show up.

“Should I just come clean and tell Alex about it.” I said aloud.

“Hmm, what's that,” Alex said, walking into the room.

How come I didn't notice him coming in? “You wanted to tell me something?” He asked, placing a kiss on my neck as I sat on the bed.

“Yeah,” I smiled, hesitating. “I want to go out with a friend.” I lied, praying inwardly that he doesn't suspect.

“A friend?” He chuckled. “You’ve never told me about them.”

“Yes, I just started making friends.” I said.

He looked at me. I'm sure he doesn't believe what I said. “It's okay, you can go see your friends. But do not trust anyone, they might be close to you because you're my wife. Wanting to use you for their personal gains.” He kissed me passionately and left the room.

My body was trembling so much that it became difficult for me to stand upright.I ran down the stairs, colliding with one of the workers. I stopped her. “Where is my husband?” I asked her.“He is at the dining hall.” She stammered.I ran straight to the dinning hall and he was already seated calmly enjoying his breakfast.“Darling!” He called, smiling at me.I went to meet him. “Are you okay?” I asked, examining his body. But there was no bruise or cut.“Yes, I am.” He said.“But then, why…is there blo

Alexander's POVI still remember vividly my encounter with the killer. Unexpectedly, he dashed at me with the dagger in his hands, but I dogged it in time. His eyes were cold and desperate. I took his arm and twisted it backwards, causing the dagger to fall off his hands. He shrieked in pain. I smirked. He was powerless now. I thought.I walked towards him in calculated steps. I shouldn't underestimate a killer, he might have another deadly weapon hidden away.He probably saw that he was no match for me, so he fled. Without thinking twice I shot at him, twice, thrice I kept shooting until his body wasn't moving. I walked closer to him and he was already covered in a pool of blood. His eyes were opened wide in shock. I'm sure he never expected to die that way. I pulled off the mask covering my face. He looked old, in his late forties. He probably had kids. I shook my head in pity. He deserves it. I thought.I checked his body for anything that could explain why he killed those wom

If Alex were here he would have been red with anger. “I believe boss isn't there?” He asked. “Yes, he isn't.
