Race Against Time

Lana’s POV

The chill of the morning air hit my face as Leo and I sprinted away from the lighthouse, adrenaline coursing through my veins. Behind us, the old structure creaked ominously, as if echoing Sarah’s taunts. My heart raced as I fought to keep my breathing steady.

“Where do we go?” I panted, glancing back over my shoulder, half-expecting to see Donovan and Sarah chasing us. “What do we do?”

Leo grabbed my hand, his grip firm and reassuring. “We need to get to my car. It’s parked down the road. We can figure out our next move there.”

I nodded, trying to focus on the path ahead instead of the panic bubbling inside me. Thoughts of Donovan and Sarah twisted together in my mind, each one more troubling than the last. I could still hear her mocking laughter ringing in my ears.

As we reached the end of the dirt path, my heart dropped. Leo’s car was nowhere to be seen. “No, no, no!” I gasped. “Where is it?”

“It was right here!” he exclaimed, scanning the area.
