Chapter 113

The Chase

Lana’s POV

My heart pounded in my chest as we burst through the back door, plunging into the thick darkness of the woods behind the cabin. I could hear the shouting getting louder, the sound of footsteps crashing through the underbrush, closing in on us.

“Where do we go?” Leo gasped, looking around wildly.

“Just keep running!” I shouted, my breath coming in quick gasps. I didn’t know where we were headed, but I couldn’t stop now. I had to get us all to safety.

We dashed deeper into the woods, the moonlight barely breaking through the branches above us. I stumbled over roots and rocks, struggling to keep my footing. Behind us, I could hear the voices getting closer. They were hunting us.

“Over here!” Gina shouted, veering left toward a narrow path that snaked between the trees.

We followed her lead, hoping this would lead us away from the danger. The path twisted and turned, and I could barely see where we were going. I heard the crack of a branch behind us, and my
