Confrontation

I stared at Donovan’s father, the darkness wrapping around us like a cold blanket. My heart thudded in my chest, a mix of confusion and fear swirling inside me. Why was he here? What did he want?

“Dad, this isn’t the time!” Donovan snapped, frustration evident in his voice. “We need to get out of here!”
