"Happy Birthday!"

Caroline opened the door to Dillbert's office. He was both her boss and lover. Caroline had brought a cake she had made herself early that morning, especially for Dillbert.

But Caroline's eyes widened when she saw Dillbert hugging a beautiful woman in a knee-length white dress. Her intention was to give Dillbert a surprise, but instead, she was the one who got surprised

The cake she was holding almost slipped, but Caroline reflexively held the cake with her other hand. Caroline hurriedly changed her shocked expression and bowed respectfully.

"Who is she, darling?" The beautiful woman asked. while looking at Caroline with a cynical look. She looked at Caroline from head to toe.

"Her name is Caroline, she's just my personal assistant." Dillbert answered quickly, without hesitation. Then Dillbert turned to the beautiful woman in his arms and tightened his embrace, as if afraid of losing her.

"Just a personal assistant," Caroline thought. It was true that she was his personal assistant, but she was also his girlfriend.

Yes, Caroline has given him love and warmth this year, but their relationship has never been made public. Dillbert reasoned that he didn't want to make Caroline enemies with his colleagues. He also wasn't ready for his parents, who came from a wealthy and respected family, to find out about his relationship with Caroline, who was an orphan from a lower-class background.

But Caroline held onto Dillbert's promise when they first had making love. Dillbert had promised to officially introduce caroline to his parents and extended family when the time was right. However, a year later, Dillbert's promise had not been realized, and Caroline didn't dare ask about it.

"Oh, just a personal assistant. No wonder she wanted to give you a surprise. Take the cake, darling. I'm sorry she held it for too long." The woman said with a smile. Suddenly, her once cynical face turned friendly.

The woman in Dillbert's arms could be said to be perfect in every way, she was not only beautiful but also elegant. Everything she wore was branded and loxurious.

"Just put it on the table." Dillbert said, Pointing with his chin. His eyes focused sharply on Caroline who was just looking down.

Caroline dragged her feet towards the table near the two lovebirds to place the cake. Her legs were very stiff, as did her face and hands. It was excruciacing for her to see the man she truly loved embracing another woman, without caring about her feelings.

Without saying a word, Caroline left Dillbert's office. Dillbert made eye contact with her before she broke their eye contact. After closing the door, Caroline ran to the restroom and cried there.

Caroline cried for a long time, with many questions appeared in her mind. There was no inkling whatsoever. Even last night, Dillbert still met her before going home to his parents, because his parents had returned from abroad.

After she had finished crying, Caroline came out of the restroom, rushed to her desk, and looked for the glasses she occasionally used when she was staring at the computer screen for too long time.

"Here it is." Her hands were shaking as she picked up the object. After that, Caroline immediately used it to disguise her puffy eyes.

"Caroline, this is the report you asked for," Jasmine placed a folder on Caroline's table. The girl smiled as she rubbed Caroline's back gently.

"Thank you, Jasmine, but can you take it to Mr. Dillbert's office?" Caroline asked in a slightly hoarse voice.

Jasmine frowned in confusion. Usually, when it comes to Mr. Dillbert, Caroline would handle it herself.

"Are you sick?" Jasmine asked with a worried face.

Caroline nodded, her heart hurt so much that she didn't know what to do. it felt like she wanted to disappear from this world, but there was an innocent fetus growing inside her.

"Yes, I'll take it now." Jasmine took back the folder she had put on Caroline's table, then walked to Dillbert's office to deliver the folder.

Caroline could only let out a heavy sigh as she watched Jasmine enter her favorite room, but not anymore since she came out this morning.

Entering Dillbert's office, the young boss looked at Jasmine, he looked at the woman before looking back at his computer screen.

"Where's Caroline?" he asked in amazed. Usually Caroline is the one who takes care of all the company files, but this time Jasmine is the one taking care of it.

"Sorry sir, Caroline is sick."

Dillbert's fingers, which had been typing on the keyboard, suddenly stopped. He lifted his chin and looked at Jasmine with a worried expression.

"Sick?"

"Yes, sir"

Dillbert picked up the telephone on his desk and pressed the call button.

At her desk, Caroline held her breath when the telephone on her desk rang, confused about what to do.

"Yes sir?"

"Come to my office now!"

The connection was lost, Caroline held her throbbing heart, she was afraid Dillbert would scold her. But wasn't she the one who should be angry because Dillbert was cheating on her? But Dillbert's status as the boss where she worked made Caroline suddenly shrink.

"Caroline..."

Before Jasmine had time to finish speaking, Caroline stood up towards Dillbert's office, she looked very strange, making Jasmine confused, Caroline arranged her face to look as cheerful as possible, and then Jasmine left the room.

"Are you looking for me?" Caroline asked kindly even though her heart now felt like it was being torn by a thousand knives.

Dillbert stood up, he approached Caroline without a word. And put the back of his hand on the woman's forehead.

"If you're sick, you shouldn't be working today, Caroline," Dillbert said flatly.

Caroline just nodded, she didn't know what to say either.

"About that woman, she is Sally, and im going to marry her soon," Dillbert said, without caring about Caroline's feelings. Caroline looked up. She stared at Dillbert's handsome face in disbelief.

"Me.. married?." Caroline asked stammeringly.

Dillbert held back his saliva with difficulty, he looked into the eyes of the girl who had accompanied him for more than a year and had always satisfied him lately.

"I'm sorry, but Im really love her."

When Caroline heard that, she felt very shocked and her heart felt like it was being shattered. her tears fell again and she quickly wiped them with the back of her hand.

Then Caroline looked up again, and looked at Dillbert with a sweet smile.

"I'm happy to hear that, sir. I hope you are always happy," She said, smiling even though it hurt her to say it.

Dillbert seemed uncomfortable with Caroline's words, he knew he was being cruel, that he was being cruel but Sally was his first love. On top of that, his parents asked him to marry Sally immediately after the woman who had left him came back to his side. Initially, Dillbert really wanted to marry Caroline, but as soon as he said that, his mother strongly objected , especially since Caroline was just an orphan from a lower class.

"Caroline, I will compensate you for all the time we've spent together" he said in a low tone.

Caroline immediately shook her head, she didn't need money. What she needed now was Dillbert, the father of the child in her womb.

"No sir I don't need anything"

Caroline kept trying to smile, but Dillbert knew that she wasn't okay.

Dillbert raised his hand, he was about to hold her blushing white cheek, but Caroline took a few steps back, making Dillbert lower his hand.

"Is there anything else you need?" Caroline asked again when silence fell over the two of them.

Dillbert didn't respond; he just looked at Caroline, trying to give her a little more reason so he wouldn't feel guilty about Caroline.

"If you don't need anything else sir, i'll leave."

Caroline bowed with a smile, As she slowly backed away before turning and heading toward the door.

"Wait Caroline..."

Caroline stopped in her tracks when her hand grabbed the door handle ready to leave.

"Come here for a moment, there's something I want to ask you."

Caroline turned around, she didn't come out and closed the door again. Dillbert approached then stepped closer to Caroline.

"You're not pregnant, right?" he asked caiutiously.

Because every time they had been intimate , Dillbert always had forbidden Caroline from using contraceptives, and he had never used protection when he had making love with Caroline, so he was afraid that Caroline would be pregnant with his flesh and blood because he might get into trouble later.

"What if I get pregnant? Will you cancel your wedding, sir?" Caroline asked in a trembling voice.

"Abort if you are pregnant!" Dillbert said without hesitation, feeling no guilt.

Caroline's heart was shattered. She never thought Dillbert would be heartless enough to tell her to abort the innocen child. Little did he know, She was already pregnant with his baby. She had been about to tell him, but then he told her first that he was going to merry with his first love.
