Chapter 65

Alessa wanted to not go to work. She wanted to stay with Madison, Matthew, and John, but they have very little time alone together. So when Wade called at five in the afternoon begging her to come in because her replacement, Wilson, had to be taken to the A&E because he stuck his hand in the garbage disposal as a dare—men—she agreed.

“Please! If you're really ill, just wear a mask. I can’t seem to find a replacement for you.” Wade begged.

“Okay, I do feel better,” Alessa lied. Plus it’s not like Aspen was going to come into the back to check if Alessa was there. All she had to do was stay in the kitchen. Alessa had to admit that potentially getting another glance at Kyle was a driving force for her decision to go to work.

So she made her way onto the tube and finally after a train full of people shoving in and out, she made it into the back kitchen where Wade greeted her with a, “It's a lot of dishes, you sure you’ll be okay.”

“I am good.”
