MAXWELL'S POV

I had to have been hypnotized.

That's the only way to explain my behavior yesterday. I never liked camaraderie. I hate it with so much passion it makes me sick to my stomach.

So what the hell was that?

Maybe it was the fact that I was stuck with them in the house for the entirety of the time, and had no choice. No, I had a choice. I had many of them. Or maybe it was the subtle yet warm threat Holly had given me when I left them and went upstairs. Threat? No one threatens Maxwell Jones.

Which pulled my mind back to the idiot who called me earlier. I mean, who the fuck was that? The voice over the phone was heavily distorted, and every tech guy I knew told me that the call couldn't be traced.

They had their tracks covered. And well.

“Come downstairs, or you'll have to answer to your mother.” Holly said, crossing her arms and peering at me with her old lady eyes. I had left her and Hannah in the living room, because I simply couldn't stand it. Why should I be forced?
