I took a deep breath. Relax Isa… You're doing this for mom, remember? Relax… you can get through this without having a total emotional breakdown. Come on.

He fired Holly. The only person who actually treated me like a human. He took her away from me and acted like it was nothing. I plopped down on my bed and let my tears out. I had been holding back in front of him, because I didn't want him to see me as weak. I didn't want him to trample upon my sorrow again. I dozed off into a deep, deep sleep, trying to forget about this cruel and cursed world.

The sound of my stomach crying for food woke me up with a start. I brushed my hair out of my face and stretched, trying to recall what happened before I slept. I glanced outside the window. It was drizzling slightly, and the rain had soaked my sketchbook along with the other materials on the desk. No more sitting close to the windows again I guess.
