Chapter 1. The Boss's House

Grey curtains were drawn to isolate the darkness outside. A cool white lamp illuminated the room. Felicia sat on the overstuffed sofa with her back straight, and her hands on her knees clenched involuntarily, expressing the tension in her heart.

The sound of gurgling running water continued inside the frosted glass door just two meters away. After a few minutes of pause, it continued to sound again. Felicia's breathing rhythm became as rapid as the sound of the water.

Felicia Turner is an ordinary staff member in the marketing department of the Gold Group, an omega. Today was the first day she was promoted to assistant to the big boss. Currently, she is sitting in the boss's room, taking a bath.

The sudden knock on the door frightened Felicia. The sound of water in the bathroom continued. Felicia rubbed her knees to ease her tension and opened the door.

Standing at the door was a kind-looking maid who smiled and hugged a blanket.

"Madame said that the air conditioner in the young master's room is too low in temperature, so Madame is worried about catching a cold at night, and specifically asked me to send a thicker blanket."

Felicia glanced towards the bathroom, unsure if the boss would let someone in.

"I'll bring the blanket inside, thank you." Felicia said.

Closing the door, Felicia hugged the blanket and walked to the bed. The boss's bed was more significant than hers, and the sheets and blankets were all grey. Putting on a pink blanket with a floral print was not appropriate.

The sound of water in the bathroom stopped, and Felicia met a pair of cold eyes when she turned around. The boss was wearing loose pajamas, which could not cover the width of his shoulders and the length of his legs. Short hair that was only wiped with a small towel, dropping a few drops of water onto his neck.

The Gold Group boss, Lionel Walton, was constantly ranked number one on the best Alpha list with a strong background and outstanding appearance.

This is an alpha, beta or omega woman's dream.

However, Felicia, who has worked at the Gold Group for two years, knows that this popular Alpha has a bad temper.

"Auntie just came to give me a blanket." Felicia said softly.

Lionel had double eyelids, sharp eyebrows and eyes. When he looked at others, his dark eyes were filled with contempt and a ferocious aura.

Felicia had heard many rumours about Lionel, and although she could not smell the other party's pheromones, she still breathed timidly without realizing it.

"When the smell of pheromones inside is gone, you can take a bath." Lionel retracted his gaze and dried his hair.

The hair dryer sound enveloped the room; Felicia sighed silently and moved to sit on the sofa.

After waiting for ten minutes, Felicia took the pajamas that the maid had prepared earlier and walked into the bathroom.

This was her first time taking a bath in an Alpha's house. Felicia stood behind the door, holding her pajamas, until the sound of the hair dryer outside disappeared. Then, she took off her clothes and opened the shower.

Soon, the water vapour rose, and the original clear mirror surface blurred. Omega's slender figure was reflected indistinctly.

Hot water at just the right temperature dropped from the top of her head. Felicia inhaled the refreshing scent of orange shampoo. When she was not working yesterday, Felicia suddenly received a promotion notice.

At the office, the boss thoughtfully signed some documents and then asked her to accompany him home for dinner to see his parents, in the tone of asking someone to make a cup of tea.

Thinking of the amount of money in her account after agreeing, Felicia continued her bath. As Felicia rubbed her hair, the back of her neck was exposed. The gland had a one-centimetre scar on it.

Although the gland was damaged as a child, although it was Omega, she was not sensitive to pheromones; even if she did not smell the pheromones, she would not be affected because she could not enter heat.

It was because of her condition that Lionel took a liking to her and brought her home to pretend to be a lover.

In an unfamiliar environment, Felicia took a shower very quickly. After ensuring that the buttons of her pajamas were neatly closed, Felicia smiled with relief.

When Felicia came out of the bathroom with her hair looking presentable, she saw Lionel lying on the bed with the Alpha's side vacated.

Felicia, who saw it, was confused, 'What does that mean?' thought the Omega.

On the first day of being the boss's assistant, Felicia slept in the same bed as the boss. If the boss's fans knew this, where would she dare to go out in the future? Felicia suddenly regretted her choice. After pretending to be a lover with her boss, wouldn't she be terrified every day of going out?

"Boss. Why don't I sleep on the sofa?" asked Felicia fearfully.

Lionel glanced at the sofa by the window; it was large but his favourite sofa.

"Go to sleep. I won't go over the limit. You can be sure," Lionel responded.

Felicia had no choice but to obey. Felicia wrapped herself in the pink blanket, ensuring she was as far away from Lionel as possible without falling off the bed.

Finding a good position, Felicia breathed a sigh of relief. When she heard Lionel's unpleasant hissing sound from behind, she immediately held her breath temporarily.

Staring at the Omega next to him, who was like a silkworm cocoon, Lionel opened his mouth, but in the end, he still did not speak; he just turned off the light.

Felicia knew that Lionel was going to sleep. She slowly poked her head out of the blanket, blinked, stared at the strange room, sighed silently, and could not sleep.

Felicia stayed in that position for a long time, but she slept unsteadily, and when Lionel moved next to her early in the morning, she woke up.

Her body was always weak. She did not sleep well all night and woke up in a daze. Even if she sat with her back straight, it made her feel lazy.

Lionel's ancestors founded the Gold Group, which has been in the annals of history for generations, so you can imagine how strong the Walton family's background is.

However, Lionel was too much of a workaholic. He was single until he was 30 and then used Felicia as a shield because he was constantly urged to get married.

Felicia, sitting at the dining table, was still digesting her condition.

"Felicia, don't limit yourself to whatever you want. Our family has no rules." Lionel's mother, Mrs. Emily, was an Omega with a gentle temperament.

"It's Felicia's first visit, can't you let her sleep a little longer?" Mrs. Emily whispered to her son. After speaking, she was displeased and kicked Lionel's legs under the table.

"What are you doing? Look at the fatigue on Felicia's face with the dark circles under her eyes. No wonder you've been single for thirty years."

"You're too rude!" annoyed the Omega.

Felicia heard that remark, and her face turned red with embarrassment.

"Mama, you're not whispering. So please lower your voice. Felicia heard that." Lionel reprimanded the old Omega.

Felicia noticed that Mrs. Emily was staring at her. She could only show an awkward smile, so she used all her acting skills to ask, "Auntie, is there something strange on my face?"

"No. Auntie sees you are not excited. Wait until you finish eating and then go back to bed." Mrs Emily glared at her son when she finished speaking.

"She's just not used to my bed yet, and I'll take her back to rest after eating," Lionel said as he placed the fried shrimp on Felicia's plate.

When she saw the smiling Lionel, she thought he was so handsome! So she was surprised. Before she could react, Lionel's expression immediately became flat, and the Alpha glared at her warily. Felicia, frightened that her back was cold, immediately opened her mouth and accepted Lionel's food.

'The boss is really fierce.'

Felicia muttered in her heart, lowering her head. She hoped to finish eating soon and return to her small house for a good night's sleep.

Mistress Emily was delighted with the two's interaction. However, she feared her presence would make them uncomfortable, so she took a few mouthfuls and left.

Although Mrs. Emily was gone, Lionel and Felicia did not stop pretending to be lovers, and Lionel still seemed to be serving some side dishes to the Omega with great care.

"Be sweet."

Felicia choked on the vegetables she was chewing when she heard Lionel's request, her face turning red.

Felicia coughed and then unconsciously bent over and leaned forward slightly as if leaning on Lionel's chest. Lionel was not used to that leaning back and inadvertently looked at Felicia's glans and the scar on it. The colour of the scar looked darker on Felicia's white skin.

At this time, Lionel remembered that in Felicia's physical examination report, the Omega had a series of diseases, such as glandular damage caused by trauma and pheromone disorder.

Lionel leaned in closer. Felicia was coughing uncomfortably and could not breathe smoothly. She did not care about anything for a while and immediately stretched out her hand to encourage the other party.

When Lionel wanted to scold Felicia for pushing him, Mrs. Emily asked, "Felicia, what's wrong? Are you uncomfortable? Do you want Lionel to hug you?"

Felicia shook her head faintly, took a few breaths, and stroked her chest lightly.

After feeling that she could breathe properly, she said quietly, "I want—" but her words were cut short as Felicia's right arm was gently pulled away. Then, her whole body was wrapped in the sweet scent of citrus. Her head also rested on the complex, warm chest. Lionel's flat, heavy voice coaxed the Omega.

"Being hugged and having your back gently patted will make your coughing stop." said the Alpha. Then Mrs. Emily also added, "That's right. Lionel is an expert at this."

Felicia could only grimace inwardly. She did not want a hug or a pat, just a drink of water!
