Chapter 40 Disclosure

Without even knowing it, Jessie's eyelids were closed, displaying annoyance. Lisa was a crafty and experienced wolf. Any conversation would be easy for her to read between the lines. Jessie ought to have been more ready for that.

She said, truly for the first time, "I don't want Caiden to know about my absence. Can you keep this a secret?"

Once more, Lisa sat next to her, giving her a firm grip and gazing intently into her eyes.

Lisa said, feeling worried about Jessie's strange conduct, "I can't lie to Caiden. Even if it's a couple-related issue, how can I keep this from my son?"

"I'll be back before him, Lisa, so you don't have to hide it," she said in a now-sweet voice. "And is it bad for me to want to go see my parents?"

After assessing her, Lisa chose to agree.

She answered, "Alright," causing Jessie to smile broadly. "As long as you return before Caiden."

She stood up and prepared to go, saying, "I swear, I'll be back within two or three days."
