89 Confession

"What the hell are you saying, Kamara?" When Caiden tried to get closer, Kamara shoved him. "How am I your parents' murderer? I would have remembered if I had done it."

The temptation to hit Caiden for lying to her again came over Kamara. "Take a look at this," she said, tossing the folder with all the proof against him. "There's also your confession; do you not recall that you broke into a family's home at the age of fourteen as a practical joke?"

At that point, Caiden was overcome with memories. He thought back to the evening when he and Enzo had placed a bet that he would break into a house and scare the occupants. Caiden was also looking for his father's blessing all the time. Caiden only remembered entering the house; he had no further memory of the event. This was something he wanted to show his dad that he could one day take his place.

He claimed, "I didn't kill them," as he examined the pictures of Kamara's deceased parents. "I simply frightened them."
