Chapter Seventeen

After a hot shower I made my way downstairs, following the scent of bacon and coffee to a grand marble open plan kitchen where Cole waited for me.

“Mornin”, he said cheerfully.

“Morning-how long was I asleep?”, I asked, not certain I wanted an answer.

“Only ‘bout 14 hours or so. Want some food?”. He gestured over to a petite, attractive blonde flipping eggs at the double oven. “Sahara here makes the best food. Have whatever you want, girl”.

Sahara kept her eyes down dutifully concentrating on her task. She was tiny, maybe 5’0 and she was definitely at least one dress size smaller than my slim frame. I thought back to the jealous voice I’d woken up to and quickly decided it hadn’t been her.

I greedily ordered pancakes with a side of eggs and bacon and sat down opposite Cole at the large marble table.

“So, Nova. How you feelin’?”, he began.
