Chapter Eighteen

I lie in bed twirling my fingers over the naked exposed flesh of my bosom, tugging at the nipples as I stared into the darkness.

I had been at Pack Jackson for three days now and there was plenty on my mind- it wasn’t just how all the serving Omegas avoided my gaze and skittered off when I entered a room, or even the way Cole had politely ordered me to stay within the compound “for your own good”.

There was plenty to unpack there, but not right now.

It was the silence.

Not the volume of the physical place, because Pack Jackson easily had twenty times more Weres than Meridian and they all had plenty to say to eachother here. It was my mind.

It was eerily still, with almost an afterbuzz like a TV that had been turned off after staying on all night.
